Wow - two incredible games today....1 point victory margins in both.

Greece beats France at the end.
Germany beats Spain at the end.

Dirk (27 pts) nails a baseline jumper over Garbajosa with 4 sec. remaining for the 1 point win, after JC Navarro had hit the runner the previous trip to go up by one.

Just like the Slovenia game, Germany lived by the 3-pointer.

What's interesting about these games is how much it points out that it's the team that plays with more intelligence, not the team with more individual talent, that wins more often than not. This is something very few NBA fans seem to have figured out, right The Artest Factor.

Greece is much better defensively, their offense is balanced (highest scorer averages 12-13 points), fan support will be huge also. Griechenland uber Deutcheland tomorrow.

I don't care if we win or lose this is far more than anyone could expect. I can't believe it. I am just going to enjoy the game tonight and hope we will play well. Greece is strong and it will be tough...

The refs in this championship were (are) just awful. They were driving me crazy in every game I saw - regardless of which teams were playing.

It turns out that FIBA still hasn't ratified all of the contracts with the different pro leagues and they can't therefore use refs from the Euroleague and other similar pro leagues. Basically we are seeing refs working the EC that can not get in the Euroleague because they suck too much.

I had a similar thought about Salvatore, but chased it away with a couple of beers.
