TO really kill Boban. You know Pop hates those.
RAy!!! lol
I like that he chose Cojo's number 5 for the dleague, somewhat nostalgic.
5 was also Anderson's college number.
I don't think they choose their own numbers.
Wow.. too many people watching? stream stopped.
Oh damn! I choked iced tea through my nose.
SAGirl - you're sweet. But daaamn.
Replay is always available on YT after the game... just have to watch sth else in the meantime![]()
Sorry to do that to you. Its a pet peeve to keep track of players numbers. I don't go way back though, can't give you numbers of old time players b4 I started following basketball. lol
Boban had 16 points (7/11 from the field, 2/4 from the line), 9 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal, and 7 TOs in 24 minutes of play.
McCallum had 10 points (4/16 from the field, 2/2 from the line), 3 boards, 4 assists, 1 block, and 2 TOs in 38 minutes of play.
Well McCallum at least didnt have too many TO, I suspect that is something they wanted him to work on, but not too many assists either. He also didn't shoot well, so maybe forced things too much. He needs more work right?
Boban playing 24 minutes is good for his conditioning. The TO are the most important for him to reduce.
7 turnovers? Jesus Boban
He's not. He's worse for that matter, tbh.
Boban brings the ball down too much right now, including when overdribbling in the post, which contributes to the high TOs. He also seems to hunch over when he posts up in an attempt to move his defender's lower center of gravity, which is leading to him holding the ball too long and being open to opposing players digging/swiping. He needs to catch the ball high, in lower post position, and make quick decisions.
It still makes me laugh that some people here thought McCallum could have commanded as much as CoJo did on the open market.

He isn't supposed to be CoJo's replacement, Ray is just a Patty insurance. Simmons is more of a project CoJo replacement.
no. I think chump might have been one of them. RC said something about getting him at a bargain by only using a late 2nd rounder and people felt their tiny little pricks rise.
lol no
Different player entirely.
Well I say this only because R.C. Buford made the comparison in pre-season. But what is turning out is that Simmons seems more like the replacement. This is a good thing because nobody thought Simmons would play PG.
Manu/Diaw ran the offense even when CoJo was on the roster, Simmons can run PnRs/finish in the paint but he ain't a ball handler.
Spurs will need to decide if they need a true PG in the court that is a liability defensively. Outside of Parker, the only PG is McCallum. Unfortunately, McCallum only knows how to dribble and can't set up the offense.
I am all for Manu, Diaw and Anderson tag teaming in the PG role. Spurs main hole in defense is in the undersized PG position. It's kind of like when Bonner used to come in, and every team attacked him. Same thing when you see either Tony or Mills on the court.
Exactly. It's one of my favorite topics of conversation. I hated how the offense stagnated when Cojo had the ball, so I am eager to find anything to replace him, Ray included. So, I tried to read every thread on the subject. Nowehere did anyone say two-year bench backup Ray was worth what 4 year vet Cojo got. A lot did say that even Cojo himself wasn't worth that. If he didn't have a Canadian birth certificate, he wouldn't have gotten that from Toronto probably, who knows. Maybe he would have gotten more, somewhere else, but wanted to go back to Canada. But, I am going to go way out on a limb and say that even playing in the Leastern conference, Toronto will not do jack with Cojo playing any significant role. They paid top dollar for a decent backup, or bottom of the barrel starter. And, he got that good only after four years of hard work under the wings of one of the best developmental teams in the NBA. He is an almost perfect example of making lemonade out of lemons.
Watched the first 5 minutes of the game... Boban is gunna be a beast coming off the bench once he gets acclimated with the system.
Ray recalled..Pop probably going to give him some burn in the Philly game on Monday..
I don't know of anyone who said that, but RC did say that with the free agency market explosion this past summer, they for sure would not have been able to afford him.
