    In some aspects, huh. Now you are starting to doubt yourself.
    No you just have your head up your ass which explains your hate for Duncan. Only a Mavs fan would say something stupid like that

    OMG for the 10 millionth time, DUNCAN IS GREAT. WTF is wrong with you? I have said that many times in this thread. The point is, magic johnson is the more accomplised player.
    and wtf does that have to do with Duncan being in an option year in '08?

    I'm not conceding Duncan is not in Magic's class because he can't play the point.
    Larry Bird couldn't play all 5 positions, but he should be in Magic's class.

    As for almost averaging a triple-double most of his career? So has Jason Kidd.

    Got a little sidetracked because some dumbass tried to make the argument that duncan is better than magic.

    What the is wrong with you dumbass. The argument is not Dirk vs Duncan for the second ing time already. All i am saying is magic is the more accomplished player.
    Of course his career isn't over, he still has about 5 more great years in him. But i just can't see him winning 2 championships in the next 5 years in a league with lebron, wade, dirk, etc.
    You're the one who lumped Dirk Anderson (or is that Nick Nowitzki, I'm terrible with names) in with Wade and James as if being two years younger than Duncan made him some rising young star.

    why do you keep comparing the whole of magic's career with a 1/2 finished Duncan career??
    of course the #'s don't match up all perfect.
    If you want to get all picky then start comparing 1/2 of magic;s career with TD's 1/2 a career.

    geesh.

    I dont see duncan ever averaging a triple double or winning 2 more rings.
    But i could be wrong thats just my opinion.

    Was Magic ever 2 blocks shy a quadruple double in a clinching Finals game?

    Somebody please explain to me how Duncan is supposedly in the same class as Magic.

    Magic has 5 rings, Duncan has 3.
    Duncan's still playing, and he already has 3. I don't see that having exactly the same number of rings is necessary to put two players in the same class. Likewise, if he ends up with 6 that won't automatically mean he must be better than Magic.

    Magic is the more versatile player, he could play all 5 pos ions as DarkReign pointed out.
    I don't want to underrate how an impressive a feat that was, but playing only one position didn't seem to hold Bill Russell back too badly.

    Magic almost averaged a triple double over his entire career.
    Different positions have different important stats. Duncan has been a consistent 20/10, and among the league leaders in blocks pretty much every year. Was Magic ever up for DPOY?

    The point is Duncan is an awesome player and a sure hall of famer, but Magic is greatness.
    The point is that Magic has retired from a truly epic career and has been placed firmly on his pedestal, while Duncan is still playing but is already approaching similar heights.

    Considering TD has a few more years I think his accomplishments to this point are definitely comparable.
    yes. very true statement.

    Magic Johnson
    Honors: Elected to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (2002);
    NBA champion (1980, '82, '85, '87, '88);
    NBA Finals MVP (1980, '82, '87);
    NBA MVP (1987, '89, '90);
    Nine-time All-NBA First Team (1983-91);
    All-NBA Second Team (1982);
    12-time All-Star; All-Star MVP (1990, '92);
    Olympic gold medalist (1992);
    One of 50 Greatest Players in NBA History (1996).

    Tim Duncan
    NBA champion (1999, 2003, 2005)
    NBA MVP (2002, 2003)
    NBA Finals MVP (1999, 2003, 2005)
    All-Defensive First Team honors six times
    All-Defensive Second Team honors twice (1998 and 2004)
    Eight-time All-NBA First Team (1997-2005)
    All-NBA Second Team (2006)
    The 1998 Rookie of the Year
    7-time All-Star (no game was held in 1999)
    Named the 2003 USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year

    Considering TD has a few more years I think his accomplishments to this point are definitely comparable.
    The bold are Td's accomplishments that are currently 1less, the same, or greater then Magic;s accomplishments.

    this is Magic's 13yr NBA career against Timmy's 9 year career.

    Already these stats are COMPAREABLE and timmy still has 4 years to match Magic's time in the league.
    And you know he will be playing at least 5 or 6 more.

    ^ why would he want to leave a team he's helped build and have so much success? Several years back orlando was pushing hard for him during free agency and he never left. I see him finishing his career as a spur.

    Put Kareem on Duncan's team and they probably don't lose a championship in the 2000s.
    No doubt about that.

    If you want to know why your getting flamed just go back and look at page 1 of this thread and youll see why. You started all of this making a dumbass claim that Duncan isnt on legendary greatness status

    the notion that Tim would leave is re ed on so many levels... this isn't shaq going to the big market in la to make movies and become super famous... this is an island boy who found his niche in a small market city that truly appreciates him. He isn't going anywhere.

    and Tim is in the same class as Magic ... I'm pretty sure Magic would say the same as well as any other NBA legend for that matter.

    Lol one of the best ever to play in the nba? Personally, i dont even think he is the best spur of all time, i think david robinson has him barely beat.

    That statement made me love Timmy more.. and yeah, I believe that he's not going anywhere. Timmy's the core of this team and he knows that. He won't let the team just crumble into pieces. I believe in him, with all my heart.
