Normally a small base means someone who is smaller in the trunk and rear-end. Jackie Butler has skinny legs, for instance, but he's got the booty to back people down and dislodge defenders leaning on them.
Yeah but he mentioned skinny legs as well as small base.

Someone else mentioned small base to me yesterday regarding Mahinmi. So I'm guessing he has skinny legs and little ass.

My friend Brian says that Mahinmi looked really good, he has nice broad shoulders but such a small base that he's going to have trouble holding his position in the NBA. He says that he needs to gain about 20 pounds.
Small base? That's the old NBA. Things like "holding postion" under the basket are going to be less important in the future.

I think the Spurs FO may be way ahead of us -- if it's not Butler, it could be Mahinmi this year.

Butler or Mahinmi. Heck, that's probably why Javtokas got left at the altar at the last minute.

    I can't believe we're discussing some French dude's ass.

Anyway, Garnett has a 'small base,' too. Getting stronger will help Mahinmi. He'll fill out. Getting Shaq out of the league and possibly getting beefcakes Butler on the team will help.

    13 pts 8 rbs 2 bl in 30 minutes.
    I'll take it!

Jamar Smith had another decent game it seems.

Watson another 5+ assists game as well.

He was the leading rebounder in the game, went 4-5 from the field (presumably from in close) and scored 13 points -- why is everyone treating him like Karen Carpenter?

Anyway, I think he's only just begun. Bring him over now.

    @ Russ

Mahinmi split his rebounds 4 and 4. That's useful.

I talked to Noel. He didn't have any legs today and his shot wasn't on, so he defered to the guards instead. Their point guards are unable to get the ball into the post players downlow either. So that doesn't help.

He said that Mahinmi looked good. Runs the floor extremely well. He said he matched up well with Sene. He said he's very active.

Side note: Sene was really sick. Has the flu and is going to doctor now. He might not play in their next game.

I expected Mahinmi to average like 5 points and 4 rebounds, so him going for 13 and 8 is better than I imagined. Maybe he started to figure things out after that first game. That'd be nice.

That said, hopefully Butler is with the Spurs next year and Mahinmi can stay another year in France.
