Here's some updates (they are Sonics related mostly). I'll get the Spurs info in a couple minutes.

Sonics team is struggling greatly, trailing 13 to 4. Patch just stripped Mahimni and got a breakaway on which he was fouled. Mahimni then goaltended the shot away much to the annoyance of the Sonics who were called for the same goaltending call just a moment ago

Another steal by patch leads to Andre Emmet layup. 13-8 spurs.

Brown gets it going with an impressive baseline cut. He juked his man and used the rim as a sheild before contorting his body for a nice layin 10-10 Spurs with 5:02 left Mahimni on the line hits both free throws after a foul

Morliende much more aggressive than last night. First the two steals now a driving take for a bucket. Today the guards are playing better while Sene stunk and Felix has been quiet

Another really tightly (dare I say poorly) called game. Felix and Patch goe in and Burell and Halperin replace them.

15 14 Spurs with 3:29 left in the first. Reiner puts in a serious effort and husle. It’s too bad he lacks the atheletic ability of these guys.

I don’t have stats but I’d say that Andre Emett is the scoring leader. Soncis 16 Spurs 15 with 2:36 left in the first

CJ Watson, a rookie out of Tenessee just showed why Halperin will likely struggle in the NBA. On a drive he drove right into Yotam and simply had too much speed for Halperin to deal with. Unable to move laterally with much quickness Halperin was unable to do anything but foul. On the next play Halperin made a nice cut into the lane but missed both free throws. Next Dante Smith juked, cut, and blew right by Halperin for a dunk. Halperin comes back and hits a jumper and then steals the ball. It’s getting a bit Mano-Y-Mano with Halperin demonstrating the strengths and weakneses of his game in one little run of play

End of one Seattle 18, San Antonio 19. I’ll be back in approximately 20 minutes with first quarter stats and an update.

If they ever have the room, Seattle would be an excellent place for Emmett to land. He needs an uptempo game to play to his strengths but also a good teacher to pick up the other aspects he's lacking.

He did fine last game. I'd say he's doing better than expected, in fact.

My bad. I thought that he was supposed to score way more, no offense to Ian.

elliott - in my opinion, being active, showing energy, and being involved in plays would be a good sign for him. I don't think he's much of a scorer yet. So far he's done what most of us wanted, I think -- making good plays, looking like a smart player. He's too light to be ready for this level yet.

Today Mahinmi is going against Sene (Sonics draft pick with the biggest wingspan in the league), so far neither one of them have done much against each other.

I'll have halftime stats on both teams very soon.

I'm happy that patch is doing well. This guy has the level to play in nba but he has had tons of injuries.

Patch Morlende is on the Sonics.

Here's Draft Express comments on Mahinmi from yesterday.

Mahinmi is a very athletic and mobile big man. He had a good game overall, hustling on defense and fighting for rebounds. He struggled with the superior strength of Pavel Podkolzin and DJ Mbenga all night long and was in foul trouble most the night. He showed a couple of nice quick spinning post moves across the paint and drew fouls. While a raw player, his footwork and understanding of positioning on the floor are good. Ian desperately needs 20 pounds of muscle to compete down low.

Yesterday he (and the rest of the Sonics guards) were horrible, so today the team is trying to get them going.

Spurs are doing something right at least. Is it good coaching? I'm feeling their point guards are prety good, too.

    Day 1 : Podkolzin
    Day 2 : Sene
Mahinmi play against big centers while he has a PF body (for the moment), it should be difficult for him.

    10 for Mahinmi? Sweet.

I freely admit I was wrong about Melzer. He looks to be handling SL play well. He and Jamar Smith are the stand-outs.

Any tales from CJ Watson? Is he dishing like last game?
