People need to realize that at this point, and probably forever, Will Conroy is not the player Beno Udrih is.
    God I hope he's not.

Beno is a much better player than Will Conroy. He sucks on the Spurs, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have NBA talent.

That Conroy couldn't stick with the worst team in the NBA should be a sign how vast the difference between the NBA and the NBDL is.

at this point, if where even possible, drop beno and offer to pay the rest of his contract to whoever team picks him up... they can trade us a bag of Doritos for all I care.

Im sure there are going to be es here who think beno needs "one more chance"... the off dammit... if there was an over/under on how many chances an NBA player gets to show production, I would take the over with Beno... He has had WAY to many chances and still hasnt produced.... and not only that, has gotten worse!!!

That means he sucks on the Spurs. Why should I GAF if someone might be able to play somewhere else. Get rid of him and try Conroy who hasn't been proven to suck as a Spur yet.

did I miss something, or isn't Conroy still under contract with the Grizzlies?
is it, that you assume they won't resign him after his 10-days contract is expired and that then the Spurs should sign him?

I believe LJ just said they didn't pick him up for a second 10-day contract. Look back a page.

    can't find it, but anyhow.
if the Spurs have liked him before, this shouldn't have completly changed.
would the Spurs waive a player, to open a roster spot for him?
don't think they would waive White, even if it was the cheapest option.
better was a trade 1 for 2, that opens a spot.

Junior Harrington In, Will Conroy Out

Following an NBA callup and lone 10-day contract from the Memphis Grizzlies, Will Conroy will not continue with the team and is expected to return to the D-League. Considered the top point guard in the D-League after having averaged double-digit assist figures for much of the season, Conroy was named to the allstar game on February 18th and will now almost certainly be there.

Replacing him in Memphis will be 6-4 point guard Junior Harrington, who played in Memphis' training camp and was the last player cut from the roster. He will sign a 10-day contract tomorrow, according to informed sources. The 26 year old Harrington, a graduate of Division II Wingate University, has two years of NBA experience under his belt after having caught on with the Denver Nuggets in 2002-2003 and then with the New Orleans Hornets in 2004-2005. He spent last season with Pamesa Valencia in the ACB league, Spain.

Junior Harrington just got re-upped by Memphis for another 10-days. In 12.0 minutes a game he averaged 5.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists. On the same kind of contract, Will Conroy did absolutely nothing with his time, either showing the team he was not NBA material yet or showing some kind of at ude problem, since his NBDL stats were so awesome and obviously translate into the NBA.

Or that the Grizzlies had already found out that Harrington was available soon after they signed Conroy and wanted to go with him since he had been at training camp and they didn't want to let him go then. Did Will steal your girlfriend or something?

Nope. But for all the lavish praise cast on Conroy, it's clear he has a lot of work to do. This should also put the dampers on people swooning over NBDL stats when they are clear miles from suggesting NBA viability, though I'm sure the next round of people seeing Barrea's stats and openly touching themselves over them is already queued up.

Yes, I have. Had I not, I suppose you'd discuss them at length in terms of intangibles?

When did you go down on your mother?

Does this degenerate into a discussion of how those were bad games to see them, that this other game, they showed something where they obviously were NBA bound? Give me a break. The point of the thread isn't that they're excellent NBDL players, but that the NBDL is the chihuahua league compared to the NBA's mastiffs.

So you didn't actually see them play in a game. It's ok dude -- it's not the first time you talked straight out of your ass.

I've seen them both in college and have NBATV. Summer league games, too. Why don't you quit? You're goosestepping away from the point like a munchkin soldier.

I'm not stepping away from any point. I just wanted to know what games you actually watched. You are being way too defensive to imply anything except you don't like these guys simply because timvp does and he made you look bad some time in the past.

For the record, if the Spurs manage to get rid of Udrih - which I fully support - and free up a roster space, I'd love to get Conroy. What annoys me is when people fall into this mode of badmouthing Udrih (over a sandwich or a pile of trash) in support of guys having admittedly good stats in the developmental league. Not saying you were one of those, btw. Udrih is a better player at this point than Conroy or Barea.

The defensive tone probably comes from some morons on here who have come to annoy the piss out of me who are like the 4'2" goons in middle school who never grow taller than that. They make me feel like I'm in 8th grade again and I've been in 'rip' mode, so I apologize. I have great respect for your showings on the NBDL and otherwise.

That's pretty much the only reason I ever bring him up. He's got more size than Andre Barrett, but for the most part Will would be at Andre's level -- IR. Barea's D-League stats are wildly overblown as he played pretty much all his games against the worst defensive point guards in the league, and still managed to give up 35 points to one of them (Gerry McNamara).

I agree that Beno is a better player than either, but I also think he just doesn't work on this team.

Since LJ will probably look at this page I'll use it to let him know Ndudi Ebi is back with the Fort Worth Flyers. I actually saw him play last week, but it took me awhile to recognize him. I'll see him again Friday.

May we assume after all the back and forth of folks who've actually seen him play, that Conroy is probably not better than Beno, but folks would just like a change because they don't like Beno's personality, or his game or his at ude or a combination of all his faults which can be combined under "He just doesn't fit with the Spurs."

I'm not sure you get rid of a cheap bad NBA backup for a cheap, good D league player. Maybe we just have to suffer through this season with Beno and hope for a miracle.

Well, if Beno is going out in a Maggette trade for instance, I wouldn't hesitate bringing up a D-Leaguer, and Conroy one of the two point guards that might be able to play in the NBA this season. The other is Randy Livingston -- he's a little old and slow for my tastes.
