That guy's voice makes me cringe. He's horrible.
No- people want to ensure the effect and the way to achieve that is to hand out shirts. If Golden State, Utah, Miami, and Toronto can all do it- surely the Spurs can, if they wanted to. I have even been to arenas where shirts were handed out and it wasn't even the playoffs. Compared to other organizations and arenas, the Spurs giveaways and in arena time out games really suck.
And the Spurs sure have been happy in the past to give away shirts to season ticket holders only.
That guy's voice makes me cringe. He's horrible.

and i thought it was just me......yahhhhhh he gotta go!
So you're saying you have a beef with the Spurs organization? Shocker.
Very True. I don't like being serious all the time
Since Amare came out with the whole "Spurs are Dirty" statement, some sponsor like Waste Management should provide black t-shirts that say, "Let's Get Dirty!"
"It's like, how much more black could this be? and the answer is none. None more black."
Christopher Guest as Nigel Tufnel, "Spinal Tap"
lol yeah i think everyone can agree, we need a new voice and his voice sounds all whiny. we can use detroits announcer, Mason.
again, i think the ATT center should do a blackout. but i also think grey or silver shirts would standout better, remember last year when Heat fans all wore white for their "white-hot Heat"? that looked cool. A sea of grey or silver would be better...
It looks like they're giving silver Spurs flags to everyone at game three. Not quite a shirt but at least they're trying huh?
Its better than nothing, but they could do better. I guess the sponsors don't want to dish out a lot of money.
I finally got to see a game in SA in Dec 2005 v. the Heat. It was a great experience. However, I was very surprised at how subdued the crowd was. When I yelled at the ref or at a Heat player, people around me looked at me like I was some kind of weirdo...I didn't sense any real passion for the team. There was applause for the players during introduction and for great plays, but on the whole I was quite disappointed at what I felt was a lack of enthusiasm for a great team. Maybe it was an off night I don't know but it struck me as odd. It was definitely not what I expected.
Yes. "Fight on for victory everymore for the sons of knickerbokers rally round Columbia Columbia..."
Well, well. Can it be that there is more than one Columbian in this group?
Just telling it like it is. Many people in San Antonio have no clue about the things that NBA teams do in other cities and in other arenas. It is the benefit of being a one-horse town. Compared to other NBA franchises, the Spurs marketing sucks. The Spurs have gotten cheaper and cheaper when it comes to giveaways because they keep losing long-time corporate sponsors. Wonder why? People are not asking for something out of the ordinary standard of other NBA teams- or even something expensive. But the Spurs are still extremely small time when it comes to professional sports marketing. But the local fans "buy it" so it works because most don't know any better.
FWD I am CC '91. How bout you.
I was in CC '94, but I transferred out after my sop re year. We were there at the same time in Fall 90/Spring 91. Though I transferred (for reasons that had nothing to do with the ins ution) I still consider Morningside Heights to be my Alma Mater. Had way too many good times there.
Silver flags is lame. Either do it right or don't bother.
I wish I was on the marketing team for the Spurs. I have some fun ideas and would love some funding and equally creative, fan oriented people to brain storm with.
Would be fun!
Slovenian flags instead of silver flags? Rasho/Beno kissing contest?
The Slovenian flag comment is not too far off. I think it would be neat to have international theme nights, say once a month, that highlight the home country of each of our international guys.
They could maybe have someone sing their national anthemn in addition to ours, like they do in Canada and have time out entertainment/ games and or give away related to that country.
I haven't worked out all the details yet- just some preliminary thoughts.
I would definitely want to ins ute the t-shirt idea for play offs.
That is all I can tell you off the top of my head. I am at my other job and tired.
But I am certain I could come up with some neat events, especially with a team to help.![]()
Sorry you had to leave. And yes, New York is the place. Do you go to the games? Maybe we can discuss the Marlin or West End some day.
Sounds like most of you think that marketing is a really easy job.
If rowdy, raucus crowds are what your're looking for, they out to take a page from the days of the HemisFair...
$0.10 beer nite...
