Jeter and Watson were the difference tonight.
Williams had some good play early on, but sucked bad in the 2nd half.
*Melzer works hard
Spurs 75, Jazz 71 game over.
How does Marcus Williams get benched in crunch time in a summer league game?
He must be worse than even my imagination tells me.
i think Marcus would be much much better if you put him next to manu and others bcuz mayb he will be left open after the other team is rotating, then he can use his skills once hes wide open
kinda of like how tony and manu plus every1 else lives off of timmys double and triple teams
Any win against the Jazz in Utah by the Spurs is a good win.

Tiago Splitter will make up for Williams and the other marginal draft picks the past several years.![]()
We should have just taken Stanko.
I wouldn't think that being actively defended by summer league scrubs would be much worse than being sagged off of in the NBA with real defenders.
I never want to see the Spurs draft another domestic player again. Marcus Williams is a joke.
Ship him to Seattle along with Brent for some of their exception.
An exception has to be used up all at once. It can't be broken up (as far as I know).
Regardless, at this point I don't think that many people would be interested in Williams. What has he done whatsoever to give himself value? Even a player like Butler that stood out in SL only went for a future 2nd...and one of the best players in Europe was paired with him in that trade anyways. What are people going to give for a guy that simply blended in during SL? Lets put it this way: Beno Udrih > Anything 20 Marcus Williams would bring back in a trade.
Frankly, I'd like to have Williams sign with the Toros (on a DL contract, not NBA) and have the Spurs watch him there. If he continues to completely suck, sever ties. If he comes around then continue to watch him. BUt at this point, I'm pretty disinterested. I wish we had Marc Gasol or Stanko Barac instead.
A second rounder with no contract is not likely to be attractive in a trade, given that he's likely to be on the street at the end of training camp.
I want everyone who argued with me about Williams being good to show themselves.
They should just hand over their collective scouting decisions (for americans at least), to this board. The ac ulated recommendations that just about everyone agreed upon (players drafted after 33) from the draft thread were what
PGs: No real collective choice at the 33 spot
Smalls:
Dominic McGuire - Who looks good so far, Demetris Nichols - Ditto, Byars - No doing so well.
Bigs : Again, no real collective choice, but some names mentioned for 33 (or even 28)
Fazekas, Davis, McRoberts
Ending up with ANY of the above but Byars would have been a huge improvement so far... , even Byars...
Sounds like my boy pooh did well tonight. Props to the spurs organization for giving him an opportunity to showcase his skills.

Williams' line ended up worse than I thought. 2-for-6 from the field, 0-for-2 at the line and no defensive rebounds.
He also picked up a technical. Those who watched ... any idea about how that happened? Would probably explain why he got benched for most of the fourth quarter.
Pooh Jeter... played for another team in SL, right? How'd we pick him up? He was doing well there.
We can take some consolation in Morris Almond also having a bad game... although he's had good ones this summer, while Williams hasn't had any.
what like having derek fisher rotating on you or......mark madsen rotating right...... manu and tony plus BRUCE are able to play in this league bcuz of Timmy.
Manu and Tony are reaching that level where they can be a force on offense. manu makes this whole six man thing works with our old men bench bcuz he is a force offensively and gets other ppl open.... have manu dish to mWilliams and hopefully his athleticism takes over
