    Finley 6-7
    Bowen 6-7
    Ginobili 6-6
    Barry 6-6
    (Udoka 6-5)

Will the Spurs, once again, enter the upcoming season with no wing players taller than 6-7? That is, other than maybe Zarko Sanikidze?

    In the meantime:

*Still no word on free agent Ime Udoka. San Antonio and Memphis reportedly are still pursuing the small forward from Portland, but nothing has been finalized. Multiple calls to Udoka's agent, Erin Cowan, have not been returned so who knows how imminent a deal is. Something is supposed to get done this week ... of course, something was rumored to be in the works last week, too.

Man, I've seen fans obsess over players they like, but get a grip. I only felt that bad when they traded Silas and Gervin and some other stud players.

He just doesn't fit here. You watch, he'll go to GSW and be the sparkplug off the bench that beats us in 7 months.

Scola, Butler and White -- San Antonio just gave away another 5 les. They were to be the next generation Dynasty after Duncan.

    Discuss.
Apparently our professionals in the FO didn't see the future in these guys.

    Sad.

No slam dunk champion on the Spurs next season.
you have to play to be invited besides we have a slam dunk champion in Brent Barry.

Spurs don't need to waive White to sign Udoka. They have plenty of opportunity to get rid of him during the season and it not count toward the luxury tax. I think they picked Williams over White as the young guy to keep around.
williams will be gone when the season starts and james white will be resigned (if they didn't waive him his contract would've been fully guaranteed) for training camp and he too will be cut again before the season starts.

I think White just got into a numbers crunch!
Had this been 2008, rather than 2007, and all the retirings and open roster spots, I bet he would have been kept and developed further.
He was at the wrong place at the wrong time!

For the past several years, the Spurs have searched to find an athletic swingman, preferably someone big enough to play either forward position against teams that play small. Coach Pop has stated his desire to bring in someone that is long enough play 3 or 4, a "Derrick McKey type of player". Last summer the Spurs brought in some 6-8 to 6-10 SFs, such as Rich Melzer and Britton Johnsen. They were hoping Viktor or James White might fill that need. Someone long enough to defend someone on the perimeter like a Dirk Nowitzki. Matt Barnes sort of matches up as does Boris Diaw, for that matter.

The Spurs didn't need a "Long 3" last year nor in '05 in order to win a championship. They could have used one against Dallas in May of '06. The Spurs just want one Long 3. Now, do you remember?

I'm starting to wonder if they'll ever find a fit for the swingman position - at least someone the FO is comfortable with anyway.

If the "numbers" you speak of are not measured in roster spots but $ then you might be correct.

spanoulis was never here so you can't really put him on that list lol

sometimes we all cry about youth, but look at all the young teams, what have they done??? the spurs front office seem to know what they are doing, we'll get our youth movement in 2008-2009 season, but for now we just all have to get over the fact that we won't have that much youth

and if matt didn't up his mcl he would've been playing more down the stretch, he just missed out at the wrong time, cause when he was gone is when the spurs started to gel, but before then he was playing pretty good mins and producing, so i think he'll be good for us next year especially since i think horry will be the nba's roger clemens and only play every now and then until playoff time
