Yeah, perhaps Minnesota just cuts him. The trade could be basically the Spurs giving the Timberwolves a little bit of cash just to allow the Spurs to move out from under the luxury tax threshold.
Even if the Spurs gave the Timberwolves Beno and $3M for a second round pick that won't materialize, I believe the Spurs still profit on that move due to coming in below the luxury tax threshold.
Although, we are dealing with Kevin McHale so perhaps the Spurs got an actual second round pick and didn't have to give up cash. That'd be a rather nice trade.

With Simien and Howard gone, they have 15 players under contract outside Beno.
C OBERTO/ELSON
PF DUNCAN/BONNER/HORRY/MAHINMI
SF BOWEN/UDOKA
SG MANU/BARRY/FINLEY
PG TONY/WASHINGTON/VAUGHN
That pretty much assures Udoka and Washington will be on the active roster if wasn't proven by now. Vaughn and either Horry or Mahinmi will be on the inactive list.
The only weird thing about it is they gave the Spurs a conditional second round pick. The Spurs FO is still high-fiving as we speak.
so beno got traded now he will get cut
I wonder if he really thinks he is a starter still
Meanwhile Udrih has made several millions, is cut, so doesn't have to actually play, and can retire to an island in the Carribean somewhere.
I dont have that at all
Brewer
Jefferson
Gomes
Jaric
Walker
Buckner
Doleac
Foye
Telfair
Madsen
McCants
Green
Chris Richard (dont even know if this dude is on the team)
Beno
Who am I missing?
A team can't trade a trade exception without adding something. They must add cash or a draft pick or rights to a player.
In all likelihood, the pick is heavily protected and will never trigger.
does anyone think beno will be over 300 pounds this time next year
Damn. This is awesome. I'm pissed now that I have all this work to do and no time to speculate.
GTFO BENO!
Make a good list of possible roster signings for us!
, thats several million that coulda gone to cancer research
you beno
there's no doubt Mahimi or Splitter is involved in this deal. No way spurs cut baggage without giving up a prospect.
we are talking about kevin machale
Ratliff
If this is a dream, I don't want to wake up![]()
and Craig Smith.
Right, I wonder exactly how much money it cost the Spurs to make this work. I thought they might have to include the rights to some other player.
Dunno if that's residual Scola-trade sarcasm, but they're just paying for this one. Minny never has to give up their second round pick and get some free money for this.
Hey Bruno, does trading Beno away save more than $3M for the Spurs? If so, they probably gave the Timberwolves something approaching the $3M maximum.
Read again. The Spurs are only giving CA$H considerations.
But the T-Wolves are going to waive Walker right? They wouldnt keep that guy would they?
there's no doubt Mahimi or Splitter is involved in this deal. No way spurs cut baggage without giving up a prospect.
NO WAY. OR ELSE I WILL START A ONE MAN RIOT THAT WILL EQUAL THE 68 DETROIT ONE.
What's wrong with Wayne Simien that the twolves woudln't take a chance.
He was a man beast at Kansas.
sarcasm. I'm silly with happiness.
