let's just turn this into a wake for the Mavs.

everybody, post your favorite memory of this era of the Mavericks, as they are headed for a free fall in the next couple years.

and don't be a and post Golden State or Miami , show some actual respect for a team that had a pretty decent 8 or 9 year run.
That Mavs-Kings series in 03? was one of my favourites as a basketball fan.

The Spurs Mavs 06 series was my least favourite ....

Seriously though that may have been the best series i ever saw for pure emotion and quality of basketball... its just that the result made it a bitter experience aswell so i dont like to talk about it.

Dirk dropping 50 on the Suns also

That was a great series. The Kings and Mavs had a fun little mini-rivalry back in the day. All offense, no defense. Good .

Ready to bend over and take all the gloating and ridicule. This is ing pathetic. I wasted a lot of keystrokes defending this team. I didn't think this was a lock, but to lose this badly is just...stunning.

Alston threw an elbow into Rondo's throat (for no reason, wtf) and then Rondo pushed his arm away and then Alston tried to take another shot.

Basically, alston is a complete pos
At least the Rockets are compe ors. Wish I could say the same for my team.

Yeah they all were. Spurs-Mavs in 06 is one of the greatest playoff series in basketball history. Definitey the greatest the Mavs have ever been in, with maybe the exception of Mavs-Lakers in 88. It could have gone either way, and thankfully for me and all Mav fans, it went the Mavs way.

    Wow.
Spurs fans and Mavs fans hit season lows back-to-back on ST.
    It's poetic.

That was our "championship." The Spurs get rings and parades, the Mavs get to win an exciting series.

Yeah, but the Spurs played 8 games in 11 days and actually competed, ya know, against Boston. The Mavs just laid down and rolled over for Kobe and Company.

I feel so foolish for defending Dallas' 0-5 record with Kidd against good teams because they were "adjusting" to a new lineup. I won't defend 0-6.

Who do you guys blame more? AJ or the players?

I question Avery's subs ution patterns, it feels like he's monitoring minutes or something with the starters in an almost too conservative way for tonight.

Damn, the Lakers are making it look easy. Why is it that the Mavs turn juggernauts against the Spurs and wilt like this against an undermanned Laker team?

They both suck. The players are not competing, and Avery just doesn't coach.

Look how the Rockets funnel Kobe to the baseline and have a help defender waiting to force him to take a contested jumper:

    http://coachingbetterbball.blogspot....be-bryant.html

Now, what do the Mavs do? Kobe gets the ball on the wing, makes his dribble penetration, nobody is there to help out because they're clogging the lane to protect against the drive, and so he just pops back and drains the jumper.

AJ definitely tightens up, but he can't be completely to blame. This whole team has just run it's course, plain and simple. They had their chance, they blew it, and now they don't believe in themselves anymore.

And I don't believe in them either. I thought I would give up on them after last season, but I allowed myself to stupidly keep hope alive this season. But I have officially given up on the Mavericks. I'll always love the Mavs, but I am anxiously awaiting the time when they blow this team up and start from scratch.

This era of the Mavericks have run their course. It was a great run that sadly fell short, but like every team will eventually realize, their time has run out.

Here's to you, 2000-2008 Mavericks And I can't wait for the next era to begin.

As I take my fourth shot of Armadale (which was preceded by a couple bottles of Killians), and type my farewell to the greatest Mavs era in team history, I'm actually starting to get a little emotional.

This is the biggest case of internet self-ownage ever, but it. I think I might cry tonight thinking about the Mavericks. Seriously. I'll inform everyone when it happens.

Michael Finley's pass to Booth to clinch the first playoff series win.

The series win over the Kings -- scoring 81 points in a half, winning that double OT game 141-137 with Nick Van Exel leading the way.

Every moment of that Spurs-Mavs series.

The regular season last year between the 0-4 start and the double overtime loss to Phoenix.

    Good times.
