First of All,
Kori and Timvp are right again. Let's not assume that the person wearing #4 for Houston would be tearing it up for the Spurs.

Coach Pop has expectations for players on BOTH ends of the court. Also, SA has a HOF power forward who plays 35 minutes per game.

A bunch of these teeth knashing LS lovers are not even fans of the Spurs. They are irritating in a hundred different ways.

I'm dating myself, but I remember another undersized forward who liked and was able to put the ball in the hole, but defense was someone else's job - not his. Walter Berry filled up a stat sheet, but championships were not won with players like that. Just a thought.

Or maybe Scola wouldn't play enough D for Pop to give him many minutes.
Or maybe he'd be a starter averaging a double double but the Spurs would be worse off as a team.
Or maybe be he would have gotten injured as a Spur and not be playing.
Or maybe he would be the teams leading scorer and they'd have a better record than the Celtics.
Or maybe they would have traded him midseason for Kurt Thomas.

The Scola obsession here is ridiculous. If the Spurs were missing the playoffs or something, I could understand it. But no one knows if Scola would have produced here in San Antonio. Beno produces in Sacramento and he was a lazy scrub here. Different environments bring out different results.If Scola was here, there's no guarantee he'd be playing how he is playing with the Rockets.

And the point is that he isn't here.

And the Spurs are in first place in the West.

I think the thing thats lost on everyone is that Beno actually gets playing time out there. Hard to produce when you're riding pine.

Having said that, I'm not sure what Scola's PT would have been like here. I'd like to think it would have been comparable to what he's getting in Houston. If so, there's no reason to doubt that his production would have been good here as well.

I don't think the minutes would be as much due to the need for other things besides just scoring. You can't have five guys wanting to be the star. Otherwise, you've got the Knicks.

Beno is a totally different story.

The guy wants no responsability. He can play the game, but in an environment in which there is no pressure.

We have witnessed that here (and by here I don't mean SA).

He was considered a phenomenal youngster, and they were talking of a Drazen Petrovic even, back then. There is no question he can play the game, but he has limited leadership capabilities.

Sacramento is perfect for him.
