They will have plenty of rest.
They are off from Feb 16th to Feb 23rd...that is actually too much time off. It will be good for Tim and Manu and Beno to play AS weekend just to stay in shape.
Too much time off has never been good for the Spurs. They are used to playing 3 games a week and if they get 1 week off, it will hurt their rythm and momentum that they have going.
The coaches of the all star game get something like $25,000 apiece if they win and $10,000 if they lose.
Pop's coaching staff doesn't make the millions like he does.
He keeps saying that he doesn't care, be THEY do.
He couldn't tank a game without REALLY pissing them off.
It was change to a Rice Krispy Treats Cereal bet
At least with Pop on the bench, the Spurs can be sure that nobody will run Duncan out to 40+ minutes or anything stupid like that.
It will be interesting to see, if the game comes down to a final play like last year's did, who Pop would go to. Flip had the chance to crown KG, and instead drew up a play for Timmy. Would Pop give it to KG? Would he play Manu over Kobe (assuming Kobe is healthy) at the end of a game? If the West has a 10 point lead in the last 5 minutes, will he play an all-defense unit with Garnett, Duncan, Marion, Kobe (again assuming Kobe is healthy) and, say, Manu? Shut-down defense in the all-star game?
