Good point Floss. You can't fault players for trying. Once the depth chart is set in August or September, I think we'll see some transfers.
A lack of attrition is a big reason why the coaches are scrambling right now in an attempt to get all of their ducks in a row and figure out where scholarships should go. Because the the majority of the staff is new and still making depth chart decisions, you have a lot of guys essentially re-trying out for positions when they may have already transferred if the old regime was still in place. Truly a transition year.

How many seniors are on this year's Texas team? I could've sworn I heard under 20.
I count 13 scholarship seniors on the 2011 Texas Football roster. I could be wrong as some of the walks on might have scholarships for their senior year.
Tyrone Swoopes' quotes from his interview with Hook Em 247's Gerry Hamilton:
“It (camp) was fun,” Swoopes said. “I liked all of the coaches. I got to work with Coach (Bryan) Harsin and I liked him a lot,”
The work with Harsin focused on footwork.
“He (Harsin) showed me a couple of drills that I can work on and it will help me a lot,” he said.
While the meeting with Harsin was a first for Swoopes, there is a coach on the Texas staff that has a lot of familiarity with the Swoopes family.
“Coach (Bruce) Chambers coached my dad (at Dallas Carter) in high school, so he and my dad were already pretty close. Coach Chambers and Coach (Darrell) Wyatt came by the school in the spring also, so I was already familiar with Coach Chambers,” he said.
All I needed to see was that first interception. Holy ing .
Well said. Agholor rips the football out of the air after not even being in the frame for much of the play.
It definitely looks like Geno is down to Auburn/Alabama. Rumors are his Mom likes Bama better, but he does have more friends (like Joshua Holsey) already committed to Auburn. Of note is that Auburn recently offered another CB, Jonathan Jones. It's a position of need for the Tigers, so they can always use more DBs, but it's also a possibility that it's because they're not sure which way he's really leaning.
From Kieth Niebuhr (SE recruiting analyst for Rivals) on a chat from 6/15 http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com...sp?CID=1231533Comment From AU_TigerAU_Tiger: ]
Chris, you hearing anything on where Geno Smith is leaning right now?
Keith Niebuhr: AU-Tiger .... looking like a Bama-Auburn battle all the way. Really likes both, and seems a little conflicted right now
From the Auburn site I frequent. I tend to be pessimistic so I'll bold what I think is really relevant in the post (from a mod there, they're usually pretty good and not too rampant with their homerism)http://www.auburneagle.com/WEAForum/...?topic=34868.0
I'd say Bama is ahead with Auburn second, especially if momma likes bama. Little Nicky is always very good at recruiting DB's since it's his background. But, Big Cat Weekend was a big hit with the kid and Auburn has a ton of momentum right now, including beating out Bama for TJ Yeldon.Jones joins another Georgia DB and AU's TOP CB recruit, Geno Smith on the "target list". Following his visit to BCW3, Smith named Auburn as his leader, and hasn't really changed much since then. One thing about Smith is that he enjoys "toying" with fans other different schools who are after his signature by using social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter to send out "clues" as to where he is possibly leaning. This has become a common theme for recruits these days, as another AU target, Ray Drew, from last year did the same types of things. Like Drew before him though, Smith has shown that these "tips" are nothing more that just his way of having fun, and not a real indicator of where he plans to go. In reality, Smith has named a "top 2" of Auburn and Alabama and could possibly choose between the two schools soon.
Fwiw, I've heard nothing about UT (of late, anyway) at all.

From another Rivals guy in the chat referenced above (6/15), about Agholor
Comment From GuestGuest: ]
nelson agholor?
Chris Nee: Guest- Agholor is pretty wide open. USC has always been in it. Texas made a great impression. Also likes Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, and others. In absolutely no rush.
On Andrus Peat (fwiw):http://www.auburneagle.com/WEAForum/...?topic=31738.0
I continue to think this guy will be a signing day or late in the process decision.Peat has scheduled visits to several schools, including Notre Dame and Texas, and he will visit AU in July. We have a VERY nice edge with him in that his father played in the NFL for the Raiders with Coach Grimes. Both Peat and his father also attended the BCSNCG, had an AUsome time, and were able to spend time with the AU staff while they were in AZ
Fellas, HUGE news this morning. It looks like WR Dorial Green-Beckham of Springfield, MO could be on campus as early as this evening. Nobody has been able to confirm the news yet, but hopefully it ends up being true and he stays a while. We should know something by this afternoon.
Saw this yesterday about Bruce Chambers. Hopefully ol' Bruce Bruce will be a big part of his recruitment. A nice "in" for UT to have.
Article on WR Cayleb Jones of Austin High.

It has been confirmed that WR Dorial Green-Beckham will be on campus this weekend. He will be arriving tonight and will likely leave at some point on Saturday.
Funny tweet from WR Cayleb Jones to DB Geno Smith. I love the 2012 kids are going all out trying to make this class the best it can be.
@Cayleb_JonesTx4
Cayleb Jones
@SmithGeno4 I guess you can have number 4 since your a baller!!! Some girls told me you'd look handsome in burnt orange
Big time news on DGB, this is UT's shot to hook him and convince the family of his place not only on the field but on campus and in the classroom. I'm hoping Mr Beckham begins to feel really good about turning him over to Wyatt and I think Wyatt being his future position coach and not just a coach on the staff gives us a little boost.
To me DGB and Agholor are the top two OOS targets I hope we land. I know we need more OTs, but it seems we're in good shape with some potentially excellent OTs in the 2013 cycle and both DGB and Agholor have been touted as being once a generation potential players. If Akina is saying Agholor could be the best DB he's ever recruited then you know we have to do whatever it takes to land him.
Both of Green-Beckham's parents will be in town as well. Time for Sally Brown to do her thing.
First of all, awesome news. Other than John Theus, DGB was the OOS recruit I was the most nervous about actually making an unofficial visit.
Coach Wyatt deserves a lot of credit for even securing a visit from the Beckhams. The Texas visit will come on the heels of their trip to Norman. Norman and Austin back to back usually works out pretty well for us when recruits play the city comparison game.
I’m not sure if the Beckhams would consider relocating, but there were over 200 high school head coach vacancies in this past year alone. A man of Coach Beckham’s experience and reputation could find a head coaching position in a couple of hours. Not to mention, Texas high school football is played on a much higher level than Missouri high school football. Oh and Texas high school head coach are better compensated in Texas also.
Coach Wyatt has done an excellent job working his connection with Coach Beckham, now it’s time to sell Dorial and Mama Beckham on Texas. The staff has been on a roll with the high profile OOS recruit visits, and I expect that to continue.
It's a surprising quote Floss because I didn't think Swoopes' father was even in the picture. Hey whatever helps. Coach Chambers has sort of been a recruiting liability lately, hopefully he can make for his past sins by helping Texas land Tyrone Swoopes.
The. Closer.
Symple, good stuff man. It's always interesting to read what the other sites are saying.
Good stuff on Agholor. I've read that he might take a visit to USC this summer, and that'll be it for unofficial visits. The only way Texas could be a better position with Agholor would be if they started recruiting him as a sop re. Agholor made it to Austin, enjoyed himself and has definitely told others he enjoyed himself. Coach Akina won't ever give up on Agholor.
Peat continues to be all over the place. It surprised me when Coach Searels passed on offering in state option Tre'von Armstead because Peat is so all over the place. Coach Searels must feel that he can get Armstead later because Texas is now focusing on Peat and Theus. If Peat fails to make an unofficial visit to Austin this summer, I'm going to be highly concerned. Connor Brewer said Peat is visiting Texas later this month, we'll see what happens.
It looks like the Geno Smith ship is sailing. I hope Coach Akina has had a conversation with Smith recently. If Smith is really down to Bama and Auburn, and if Texas is out, Akina needs to move on immediately. Floss said Texas could move on Colin Blake as soon as next week to replace Smith, and I expect they will.
With all the Bama and Auburn noise, I'm not sure even Connor and Cayleb can turn Geno Smith. Yes they got Kennedy Estelle to commit, but that was an entirely different situation. Cayleb does have a good sense of humor.
I haven't even heard Gino smiths name in almost a year, its Blake as a likely commit, peat and agholor as the dream commits, those two guys are almost unheard of to even be on the radar at this point national top 10 OOS guys. And good news dorial green beckham will be visiting Austin today and tomorrow as a long shot to get him off of OU and Missouri. Brooks sounds amusing just because he's a athlete who broke out relatively late, insider says his dad is actually involved in recruiting and goes by the book, which Mack loves but mr. Brooks has a lot of respect for his OU verbal.
Add a late bloomer or two by feb to a couple of those guys and the class, the 11-12 classes are just so good that they'll probably dissapoint, if that makes any sense
Per Gerry H, as of 4 pm, the Beckhams are en route to Austin.
Hope they dont get stuck in I-35 traffic, he really wont want to come here then.
