Why not start Manu, bench RJ and let him get his majority of minutes against the 2nd squad of the other team?
This is a good thought. RJ would thrive with the second unit and the bench is doing fine without Manu's energy. The only challenge is that if Ginobli is starting, who is playing 3?

I think we can beat them, but I'm more interested in games against top defensive teams like the Celtics or Lakers than against offensive juggernauts like Denver or Phoenix... Just my preference though... And BTW, I never left the bandwagon...
Yep. This is a game I wanted, just like the Match ups with Detroit a few years ago. Defensive battles. I love playing top defensive teams like Boston and LA. Those are the ones you want to win. I don't give a about Denver.

Look, the only thing that is worrying me right now is Pop. He needs to get his team prepared.

I love this team, it will just take some more time. Remember that Manu's played only one game before 2nite after the groin injury. Duncan's playing well. If they play like this in April, then I may be concerned, yes. But not now.

Spurs finished strong though. Make a few freethrows & turn the ball over less (don't step out of bounds on a 3) & we might have a different outcome. We played like a team thats been off for 4 days. They came out flat & when we started clickin it was a little to late. I like what we saw from Blair, I think he answered some of the "can he play against 7 footer questions". I bet we look a whole lot better on Saturday.

TP just cannot play this bad.

Everyone on the team said that TP is taking over and it's his team now.

Tim Duncan still doesn't take nights off like TP has this season. TP is playing horrible. I am sorry, but it needs to be said.

Tell me what is wrong with Parker then???? If you are French do you know if he is pissed off with Pop or the Spurs over the French National team?

He looks awful this season. He still can't hit his free throws either.

btw I thought Parker played MAGNIFICENT the second half of last season. I only get on TP when I know he is not anywhere near his best level.

This kind of play from TP is unacceptable. If he is a fan of Jordan like he says he is then he should know Jordan would not play this sloppy and take nights off all the time.
I agree with you that tony isn't good enough, we realy need more from him.
    But,
He is not our primary problem (individualy and collectively) and the point is to try to understand why it's going wrong, what adjustment should be made...
And not " him", "trade that piece of"... as we can read every day here!!

RJ's a mentally weak player. Benching him would crush his ego and probably have him playing worse than he is now(if that is possible).

I should add it is not all TP's fault, definitely not putting it all on him.

RJ has been probably the worst player on the team.

    Yeah OK fair enough.

All I am saying is that he needs to play better and consistently better. I think I have calmed down a bit.

This is a game I really wanted. I really couldn't give a crap about the Denver game.

Hey I will only say this once.

    No MORE HEDO.

We better not be starting a ing pussy like RJ if he is not performing. Pop did what you are saying with Hedo and Hedo shriveled the worst I have ever seen a player.

If RJ would work better off that bench then RJ will play off the bench. I don't give a about his ego.

I was slowly starting to believe in Bonner, and then tonight happened. Seriously this guy is awesome against ty teams and then once we play a good/great team...he dissapears. Great . But seriously the Spurs lost tonight because of all the damn TURNOVERS. End of story. They are giving up at least an extra 10-14 points with all those turnovers. Mason in the game at the end was a complete FAIL. I would've preferred Manu or even Michael Finley of all people in there. At least he could make a shot...when he stays in bounds! Less Bonner against the Celtics please...give me some Theo Ratliff in there for at least 8-10 mins come on Pop! This team is still a MAJOR work in progress...

As I said in an earlier post, I just wish to understand what's wrong with him this year!
We are going nowhere whith him at this level!
I mean he didn't even try tonight when it counted!!!
Mason had the ball in critical momment and tp was like hiding in the corner!!!
    that's not his game!!!!!!!!

    Updated.

Celtics win 6th straight, beat Spurs 90-83
    By Paul J. Weber

Kevin Garnett paid no mind to the Boston Celtics winning their sixth straight game Thursday night, claiming he’s not even conscious of the streak.

But the Celtics are on a roll, right?

“We’ve got a little rhythm,” Garnett said.

Garnett scored 20 points and the Celtics improved to an NBA-best 8-1 away from home, beating the San Antonio Spurs 90-83. They’ll wrap up a four-game road swing Friday at Oklahoma City, when the Celtics will go for a season-best seventh consecutive win.

“That’s the make or break of the trip,” Celtics forward Rasheed Wallace said. “It’ll be a downer if we don’t go in there tomorrow and come out with a W.”

San Antonio also had won five in a row, but the Celtics came away with what Spurs coach Gregg Popovich acknowledged was a bit of a litmus test. Of the nine teams San Antonio has beaten this season, only four had winning records entering Thursday.

Rookie DeJuan Blair had a career-high 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Spurs, who will get another test against a division leader Saturday against Denver.

The Spurs committed 18 turnovers, shot a season-worst 7 of 17 from the free-throw line and made just 2 of their 16 attempts from behind the 3-point line.

“It’s one of those bad games,” Spurs guard Tony Parker said.

Boston matched its longest winning streak of the season, when the Celtics started 6-0. Only the Los Angeles Lakers, who’ve won seven straight, have a longer streak going.

Rajon Rondo had 12 points and 12 assists, and the point guard came up big for the Celtics down the stretch. Rondo’s jumper with 2 minutes left pushed the lead to 87-81, and he later stripped Tony Parker during a layup attempt that would have cut Boston’s lead to one possession.

Ray Allen had 15 points for Boston, which never trailed after seizing the lead in the first minutes of the game.

“Guys are locked in, it’s a great focus right now,” Celtics center Kendrick Perkins said. “Guys came on this road trip to get wins.”

Tim Duncan had 16 points and 15 rebounds, and teaming with Blair, the Spurs dominated the Celtics on the boards 55-32. Blair was 9 of 11 from the field, but his boundless energy under the rim also inadvertently gave the Celtics a basket.

After Brian Scalabrine missed a 3-pointer in the first quarter, Blair bounced up for the rebound—then promptly shot the ball into his own basket.

“That sums it up right there,” Spurs guard George Hill said. “Things weren’t going our way tonight.”

Asked in the locker room about the bucket he scored for Boston, Blair went silent for several seconds. Then he broke into a smile and said, “I tried to grab it with one hand but I should have grabbed it with two. That’s never happened to me before.”

It was one of a perhaps a couple costly gaffes for the Spurs. Michael Finley hit a corner 3-pointer with 12.9 seconds left that might have kept the Spurs alive, but he fired with his foot out of bounds.

Popovich confessed before the game that the Celtics presented an early benchmark for the Spurs, who have started to come around after a sluggish 4-6 start. San Antonio pulled together a five-game win streak while playing just two teams, Houston and Milwaukee, with winning records.

Parker finished with 17 points and seven assists, and Manu Ginobili had 11 points.

NOTES: Celtics F Glen Davis had the cast and pins removed from his broken right hand Thursday, but he’ll be fitted for another to wear about two more weeks. Davis has not played yet this season. … The Spurs had a season-high 20 offensive rebounds.

Do you think we can even beat Denver right now? It's still early but this team hasn't gotten it together yet.

I'm not jumping off the bridge just yet but this Spurs team seems to be in some type of malaise at the moment. The good news is that there are several months for this Spurs team to get its collective #$%^ together!

Sorry if I got on you tonight. Thanks for staying up and watching the game. You must feel awful that the Spurs lost and you stayed up for the game.

I just can't believe how average TP is playing this season. I would love to know.

Well it was big game and we blew it . But these long lulls between games suck for them.

we had a shot at it at the end, dejuan blair was the beast. as usual, pop makes what's suppose to be a genius decision to sit out manu ginobili for the last 6 minutes for the sake of "preventing injury" but it's ok to play him 20 minutes for the game and practice him 2 hours a day but the final 5 minutes is a big no no. pop can be really stupid sometimes

too bad that fin 3 didnt count!
