Wow what a comedy of errors.
The only team that made out in this series of trades is PHI. They will definitely be a top 3 team next season in the EC.
" That's a great idea !!!! " (by the way, that's Don Nelson on that pic, not kidding)

Hey you know big kids can make a point without making their font huge.
Better get used to playing without Bynum for a few years.
you guys are gay...i told this wasn't happening... dude never came here to talk with the spurs....
you were fooled.
i have to believe that the spurs knew they weren't going to sign maggs so they are already executing their back-up plan.
Please just let us sign someone...JR, kelenna, posey
i hate the offseason
the sad thing is that the little dude on your "I didn't get fooled" trophy is still taller than you
Yeah going into the offseason, no one thought Maggette was possible. Pietrus and Jones weren't very good fits.
The Spurs are basically back where they started at the beginning of the summer. This offseason is still salvageable ... but the Spurs need to get crackin' ASAP. There seems to be about ten teams fighting over about seven swingmen.
That is one thing the Spurs haven't been very good at lately. Plan B is most often trading for more cap space.![]()
at all the reports EVERYWHERE that stated the Spurs were the front runners to land Maggette. How many articles even said that the Warriors were seriously considering him??
Anyways, I'm shocked at the amt of money GS threw at him. Esp when considering they just lost their best player and with so many young prospects on the trading block (Deng, Gordon, Josh Smith, etc) they decide to spend a crapload of money on Maggette? I'm scatching my head over this one.
Oh well, at least he didn't go to a serious compe or.
If none of them want to have a chance to start for the Spurs, there's not really much the team can do.![]()
I would take a buttload less money to play for the Spurs...but I am from SA, born and raised. The Spurs are my favorite team, a class organization, and I am all about winning. I am all about what they stand for on and off the court....to me their philantropic relationship with the SA community is a very important factor. Plus, my family and friends would get to see me play half my games live and in person. The cost of living here is not high. I would be able to go about the city without having media or fans follow me or harass me. I could be a normal person. Now, you bet your butt, that I would try and get as many endorsements as possible (Reebok, Dr. Pepper, Big Red, Coke, Pepsi, Hot Dogs, HEB, Ford Dealerships, Vitamin Water, Gatorade, Taco Cabana, Levi's, Fruit of the Loom, etc.).
So yes, I would take the MLE from the Spurs and run with it any day over pretty much any offer from another team.....oh and I would do my best to make sure my contract included a no trade clause.
GO SPURS GO
Its sucks for us, but this is why the Warriors constantly fail.
Overpaying for guys who will only be role players at best in their careers.
Can't blame Cory for taking 50 million from them for 5 years work and 82 games a season. Getting a nice long summer break and all.
Its a sweet deal.
Someone mentioned earlier today that they were all probably quoting the original article that mentioned it.
no one wants to live in san antonio and party on the riverwalk or posh or dave and busters... come on! even the strip clubs here are a joke.... so I've heard...lmao...
That's admirable. Unless I'd given them my word, I'd play in just about any US city for an extra few million dollars. SA is my favorite city; I'd buy a house there and live in it during the off season.
I'm not surprised or disappointed because I never thought it would happen. JR Smith was the only real shot at getting a talented swing man.
LMAO @ Yahoo reporting no news of this. Latest on CM:

Spurs the frontrunners for Maggette?

Meanwhile, all remained quiet on the Corey Maggette front with the San Antonio Spurs.
The biggest piece of the Spurs' free-agent puzzle this offseason, Maggette has been pondering interest from a horde of salivating suitors since opting out of his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers last week.
The Spurs, owning a $5.8 million mid-level exception with Maggette's name on it, are considered the favorites to land him. However, Maggette has received similar overtures from Boston, Utah, Orlando, Detroit, Cleveland and New Orleans. Maggette also could draw interest from Philadelphia and Golden State, two teams with salary cap space to outbid the Spurs.
The rest of the Spurs' free-agent picture should begin to clarify once Maggette makes his decision.

I'm sure the GSW got him but still, I'm not going to Yahoo anymore.
JR Smith isn't coming here. Now we all watch people make 20 threads on him, and do the same thing. Just this time we might have jumpers.

Warriors fans arent very happy about this signing at all.
Well if he still hasn't made a decision, with Brand looking like he's coming to the Sixers, I wonder if the Clipps will offer to keep him. Nothing is official until tommorow right? So he still has time to change his mind?
