On the news last night, there were some protestors that were picketing in front of one of the kid's houses. When they interviewed them, this dumb (introduced as so and so with 3 biracial children) started blaming the parents saying that some of the responsibility falls on them. Without having a clue where the kid got it from.

There was no malicious intent to do real harm to anyone. Just dumb kids singing a racist song like some posters on this board do on a daily basis.
I'd be good with a suspension for a semester or two, but knee jerk expulsion is too extreme here, imo

Yeah, I think it's too extreme to expel them. Kicking them out of the frat was fine, though. But these folks who are trying to ruin their lives by finding their FB pages are idiots. I hate that society thinks it's justified to terrorize a person because they don't agree with you.
