Ray recalled..Pop probably going to give him some burn in the Philly game on Monday..

Since Ray' s assignment was voluntary, I retract my statement that he will be there most of the season. He's likely going to go back and forth a lot. Boban likely to stay more because he needs regular real playtime to make adjustments to his post game and he won't be getting enough minutes in SA

Also, 1st year players like Boban can only be sent down 3 times max in a season, per the CBA. Whereas guys like Ray with more years can be sent down unlimited times, provided the player accepts.

Good idea. Better for them to get reps than just waste away on the bench waiting for garbage time.

Spurs just doing the best organization in basketball thangs.

    Those restrictions don't exist anymore.

Exactly. It's one of my favorite topics of conversation. I hated how the offense stagnated when Cojo had the ball, so I am eager to find anything to replace him, Ray included. So, I tried to read every thread on the subject. Nowehere did anyone say two-year bench backup Ray was worth what 4 year vet Cojo got. A lot did say that even Cojo himself wasn't worth that. If he didn't have a Canadian birth certificate, he wouldn't have gotten that from Toronto probably, who knows. Maybe he would have gotten more, somewhere else, but wanted to go back to Canada. But, I am going to go way out on a limb and say that even playing in the Leastern conference, Toronto will not do jack with Cojo playing any significant role. They paid top dollar for a decent backup, or bottom of the barrel starter. And, he got that good only after four years of hard work under the wings of one of the best developmental teams in the NBA. He is an almost perfect example of making lemonade out of lemons.
Can't see why folks continue to be so high about Cojo. He didn't reach expectation and even in Toronto, has basically disappointed. To think, the Spurs could have drafted Jimmer Butler instead.

It still makes me laugh that some people here thought McCallum could have commanded as much as CoJo did on the open market.
Well that's what R.C. Bufford alluded to. He basically said that they couldn't have afforded McCallum if he went on the open market. Maybe not the same outrageous salary that Cojo got from the Raptors, but maybe something that would be more than McCallum's current salary.

I had high expectations, but so far, McCallum has been mostly a bust.

To be fair, he's very athletic, has a good handle, has a very quick release and can shoot the 3. However, McCallum has a pretty low basketball IQ. It is at the same level as CoJo. That's his major failing. Unfortuately, you can't teach basketball IQ. Either you have it, or you don't.

Well he played badly. Let's see how he does against Philly. If he doesn't deliver, I say Spurs pick up either Eddie or Orlando Johnson from the Austin Spurs. I don't think another short guard isn't going to improve the Spurs chances.

    wtf tbh

    boban ?
Absolutely. Why is this a surprise? He's terrible and nothing more than a freak show at this point. He's a good passer but he's not fast enough for the NBA. , Anderson thinks he's slow.

They need to update the salary faq webpage then.
