    25 points, off 5-11 FG, 15-18 FT, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 1 steal, 2 TO, 5 PF
Not to mention that the game took a place less than 48 after being knocked out by a Najera elbow. Literally knocked unconscious. He comes back and scores 25 points in 27 minutes in a must win game. Spurs were down 0-1 at home already and a loss there and the season is over.

How about the game in February that year versus the Mavs where Rose went for 25 points and 14 rebounds off the bench? That was more than double the points and double the rebounds of anyone else on the Spurs' team that night.

Or what a second, how about the game in 2004 (when Malik Rose sucked, remember) when Malik had 20 points and 22 rebounds against the Mavs?

Yeah give me Rasho, he's by far the better player. His long list of playoff success is too long to write in a mere post.

With some the shots they were making are indefensible. The contested fade away on the baseline by crackhouse and the contested "i'll pull a shot out my ass and ark it to the ceiling over TD" terry shot were particularly sickening.
I wasn't referring to those shots. I was talking about the various parades down the lane that preceded them.

Naza helped the team in 2005. Asked any expert and they will agree that the trade was an excellent trade. Malik didn't help in the reg season. So he was traded.

Naza didn't help the team in 2006 and he will be gone. Rasho didn't help much either and he would have been traded if any team takes him. I wish Miiny take him back too.

It's the NBA. Every team is chasing for the champion. You select the best suited players in every year. Looking back to a player's history is useless. If today Malik can give performance better than in 2003, we may welcome him with open arms. The fact is he can't even get decent playing time in NY. Nowadays, NBA are dominated by strong, tough and quick scorers which SPURS desparately need. Malik left is a blessing to the team.

    Bump.

I still think it'd be nice to have a Rose-like player on this team. A guy who can go out there and beat you with hustle and defense.

Kind of like what he almost did to the Spurs tonight. Rose took that team from the brink of losing by 30 to almost winning the game.

Props to Malik for still having that championship substance.

No way the refs would let Malik hack and hold Dirk the way he was hacking and holding Duncan and the other Spurs.

That this thead would be bumped after Malik pulled the chair out from Duncan along with pulling his jersey is the single most predictable action on this board this season. It's nice that we're getting the Knicks series out of the way early this season so this won't linger.

If anyone can convince me Malik is currently a seven million dollar man, I will also pine for him. Otherwise, we can just hope he gets bought out and can be signed for the minimum.

I love Malik too. His heart, effort, hustle and sheer will. In fact, I'd rather have him in place of Oberto - even though Oberto is probably a more fundamentally sound player.
It's a nice sentimental fantasy, but that $7 mil price tag always turns the fantasy into a nightmare.

I guess reading isn't manditory in this forum. I said a "Rose-like player". Meaning a player that can change games with hustle and energy off the bench. The closest thing the Spurs have to that is Matt Bonner ... and that's not a good thing.

    yawn

Malik was fantastic in the 2002/2003 season, earning his contract.

Then he never showed us that Malik again, and got himself traded.

Malik's head got screwed up his ass and he couldn't unscrew it.

I bet last night was an exceptional effort from Malik due to guarding Tim and playing the Spurs.

I think Malik has put quite a few pounds, too. I saw him really sucking air a couple times last night, even squatting down on the court one time, not starting the season in good shape.

But I'm still a huge fan of the 2003/03 Malik.

Ya'll be sure to buy my book, "How not to win a championship, and like it" coming out this Christmas. It's chock full of my brilliant little Chumpisms like minimalizing double double monster perfomances by calling them, "chair pulling" and totally neglecting to mention multiple #1 picks given up. You'll also get to read my brilliant disertation on Brent Barry where I act like 86% 3 shooting is expected and the norm.

Remember, if the Spurs don't win....there was nothing they could have done to win, and it's always excusable and sensibile. The Spurs never make mistakes.

    Be a Chump, buy it.

I'd trade Nazr and Rasho for David Lee right now. The guy is quick, can run, can jump and would be perfect against the Mavs.
I'd trade Nazr and Rash for a tuna melt myself. And I hate tuna.

Did anyone else notice Malik was the last one that Isiah played off the bench? We're singing his praises, wanting him back after these one and a half seasons, but perhaps its a sign of other things involved that would cause a coach to put someone who ended up playing that well against his former team that far into the rotation. All other things being equal, he had an amazing game against us last night.

"he had an amazing game against us last night."

yep, but I'm sure playing against his buddy Tim and the Spurs brought out the best in him, which might not be seen again this season from Malik except for 11 Nov.
