He had a rapidly spreading disease -- Mahinmi-itis.
To put things in perspective, here are Petro's stats from last year's RMR.
11.8 Minutes Per Game
2.3 Points
1.3 Rebounds
.67 Block
2.3 Turnovers
5.2 Fouls
So Mahinmi is already way ahead of schedule.

How many saw this young monster in the FIBA U18 Men's Tourney at St Mary's U?

If he keeps progressing, probably a top 5 draft pick in a couple years. ie, the Duncan Spurs won't get a whiff of him.
He was actually really sick. They pulled him early in the first for dizziness, but he came back after that.
Cue the Spurstalk lovefest and beginning of the mythification of Ian Mahinmi....Mahinmi 13ps 6 reb 1to 1 bs
Kori, was Brian able to get the wi-fi working? I spoke with him and tried to help him set it up, but he had to run and I didn't know whether it worked or not.
Yes, it seemed to work. He was blogging on his site.
Thanks a lot for your help.
I saw him. He definitely looks like he has potential.

I hope we can get him, if the knicks and nuggets signing doesnt work out.

Look at Mike Bud -- he's shocked that Noel is taking a three.
That's a good picture of Noel. I'll save it for him.
Yeah he thinks they are comfortable.
SALT LAKE CITY (July 15, 2006) – In game one of day two at Salt Lake Community College, the San Antonio Spurs (1-0) got off to a blistering start scoring the game’s first eight points before forcing the Seattle Sonics (0-1) into calling an early timeout.
Thanks to strong defense, the Sonics were able to close the early gap to two points at 14-12 halfway through the first quarter. Andre Emmett kept the Sonics in the game from there by scoring 6 points in the first quarter, but Rich Melzer helped the Spurs hold on to the lead 8 points in the first. Donta Smith wowed the crowd with a quick crossover which led to a slam dunk late in the first quarter. Mouhamed Sene played limited time in the first quarter after having a huge start in game one yesterday.
Sene, did reintroduce himself to the crowd and the league when he swatted a Spurs’ shot out of bounds with authority late in the first half and then made an easy lay up the next trip down the floor.
A late three-pointer for the Spurs gave San Antonio the halftime lead at 36-33 in a very defensively minded first half for both teams.
In the second half, the Spurs got off to another quick start scoring the half’s first 5 points. Andre Brown threw down a serious dunk in the face of the Seattle big men to lengthen the San Antonio lead to seven points. More dominance down low led to a Seattle timeout with 5:52 left in the third quarter with the Spurs up 10. From there the teams traded baskets for the rest of the third quarter until the Sonics made a run to end the quarter to cut the Spurs lead to just 3 points.
Andre Emmett tied the game for the Sonics just over a minute into the fourth quarter with a nice up-and-under move around the Spurs interior. Keith Langford gave the Sonics their first lead of the second half with a transition lay up with 6:25 left in the game.
The defensive struggle continued throughout the fourth quarter as both teams tired in the high al ude of Salt Lake City. As the Spurs tried to pull away down the stretch Emmett kept his team in the game with a key offensive put back and a steal which led to a transition lay up.
Taquan Dean answered for San Antonio with a timely three-pointer with 30 seconds left in the game to give the Spurs a two point lead. Dean’s clutch shot was what ended it as the Sonics couldn’t convert on the next possession and then had to foul twice to get into the penalty. Dean then, fittingly, put the game away by promptly making both free throws putting the Spurs up four points.
Emmett tried to keep his team in the game as he nailed a three with two seconds left to pull Seattle to within 1 point but they had to foul Dean again who went to the line and made both free throws. The Yotam Halperin half court shot fell short by inches and the Spurs got the 73-70 victory.
Four Spurs ended the game in double digits: Melzer, Mahinmi, Dean, and Melvin Saunders.
Emmett ended as the game’s high scorer with 21 points in the losing effort.
