Thanks for the props.
BACK to BACK or not, The MAVS outplayed the LAKERS. MAVS are on a mission.
Congrats MAVS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the props.
True or not, Mavs shoulda been able to win regardless. Can't blame anyone but ourselves for that.
hey SoCal, sorry about your team dude, i thought it would be a bit more compe ive but all the shots that were falling for guys like turiaf/cook/radmanovic just weren't going in tonight and kobe didn't seem like his normal self....he was probably a bit tired and his groin may have been a bit aggravated. anyway, i can't say that i'm not happy the mavs won big but there were some real assholes in my section being stupid about kobe and the lakers that i wish it was a bit closer to get them to shut up...good win at home

problem is the Lakers have no big men. Chris Mihm is always injured, Bynum is too inexperienced, and we all know about Kwame![]()

Nice W for Dallas. They showed that they are THE team to beat this year. They came out and took care of business.
Not having LO came in big this year. Dallas killed LA on the glass and Dirk went off. Those two things don't happen if he plays.
I'm still quite happy with what LA has done so far this season. They still are one player away from the Dallas level however. They could give them in a series if they were healthy but Dallas still would clearly be the favorites. But stats like this give me hope.
The Lakers' loss in Dallas disrupted an impressive series of games against the West's best.
Among the West contenders, only the Mavs have managed a winning record against the Lakers.
Even after Thursday night, L.A. has a stellar
10-4 record against the seven other teams projected for the Western Conference playoffs.
Lakers vs. projected West playoff teams
Mavericks: 1-2
Suns: 1-0
Spurs: 2-0
Jazz: 1-1
Rockets: 2-1
Wolves: 2-0
Nuggets: 1-0
Total: 10-4
I agree about Dallas not killing the LA on the glass if Odom is there.
Dirk didn't go off in the least bit. He only took about 18 shots and scored a very workman-like (for him) 26 pts. I guess you haven't seen Dirk play that much to think that was "going off" for him. Also, Odom might make it more interesting for Dirk but he'd still get his #'s. Dirk is 7ft tall with a killer fade away shot. He can get his shot off vs. anyone w/o any trouble at all.
Guys like Odom don't bother Dirk. It's the shorter guys like Bowen & Haslem that get all up into him and below his arms that bother him somewhat.
I think the Lakers will seriously compete for the Western Conference le next season (after getting that one player you're talking about...whoever
that might be).
mabber - I watch Dirk often. He and Arenas is carfying my fantasy team. Point being about going off is he didn't have to work for those points - they were easy.
And I disagree that Odom doesn't bother him. How many guys are there like him? He's the same height, more athletic, and can guard him the entire court. Plus, Dirk has to play defense on the other end.
Good game. It will all be decided in May and June.
Phil knows the deal.
Jackson stressed when he returned to the Lakers that he didn't expect to win a championship during his three years as coach. He was asked if he felt any closer to that ultimate goal.
"Well, granted that we have a couple guys that are injured that can really contribute to our team this year," Jackson said. "We're still, I think, a player away from considering ourselves at the top of the league."
I'm not that impressed with the Mavs...we have odom and brown and the game would have been a different story. We got killed on the boards again, just like last game. Oh, and Dirk for MVP...why he doesn't play Defense to warrant anything. Only guy I like on the Mavs right now is Howard. He's their best player and does the little things. Other than that, I'm not too worried about the Mavs at this time. I fear the suns a lot more.
lol. your username suits you so well. josh howard, the mavs best player? lol.
a spare username and an equally spare-ish post.
well done. the real men of genius salute you.
Just stating my opinion...what did you bring to the table with your post...nothing. Also, given that my team just lost I'm a little sensitive, however still stating the facts as I see it. I've watched the Mavs play about 15 times this season and the last time that wasn't against the Lakers Dirk got lit up by a guy named Andrea....nuff said.
Walton rejected by Diop Diop...
"JHo Got Crazy Game"
Dirk was lit up by Andrea...lol.

It was clear who was the much better player at the end of that game...CLEAR!! Maybe you just typed that backwards and meant Dirk lit up Andrea...![]()
Very sensitive....still I don't see the Mavs getting into the finals. I just can't see it. I don't see the Lakers either. The only way the Mavs get to the finals is if another team has injured starters. They may change my mind, but I don't see it right now.
Who can't they beat in a 7 game series when all players are healthy for both teams???
Kobe got a dunk blocked by dampier, In another sequence he missed a dunk and then anthony johnson had a dunk at the other end. Does that mean he was shown up by the mavericks?? You read too much into small details to make an argument...
Yes it was sad how easily the Mavs ran all over my beloved Lakers. All the Mavs players were on fire and even when they missed it was an offensive board everytime. Eventhough I know you're happy with any Mav win, to bad it wasn't more compe ive. About those stupid Mavs fans dogging Kobe and the Lakers, next time "accidentally" spill your beer all over them.![]()
Lakers actually matchup better with the Mavs than most teams. If I was a Dallas fan I would hope not to meet the Lakeshow in the playoffs. But as for last night good win for the Mavericks.

Impressive! The lakers are also 5-0 in the pacific division. Odom makes a big difference in the outcome of the games vs. Mavs. He puts pressure on Dirk to play defense which is the Mavs weak spot.
DYK, that the Lakers won the season series last season with the Mavs with Lamar and a weak bench and a very raw Bynum (who didn't play much)? The losses this season were without Lamar in both games and Kwame in 1 and Back to back games after defeating the Rockets and the Spurs in the first game. The only game that didn't involve a back to back, with both teams having 2 days off and time to prepare for the other, the Lakers won.![]()
It's not going to be much fun regardless as the Mavs are going to play the 7th or 8th seed in the first round and then they'll play San Antonio, Houston or LA in the 2nd round. At this point, I don't know who I'd rather play of those 3 teams (assuming everyone is healthy). Probably rather play the Lakers just because they have some many young & inexperienced guys playing big minutes. The Rockets scare me the most if Yao & T-Mac are healthy. Whoever it is, I think it will go 6-7 games.
Kwame is a very good defensive post player. He's very affective against the Tim Duncans, Kevin Garnetts, Dwight Howards of the league. Not that he can shut them down, but he does as good a job as anybody slowing them down. He's just not as effective against Dallas because Dampier is not really an offensive threat.
As for Bynum and Mihm, that's what it is. Bynum is still to inexperienced and Mihm is hurt. Eventhough Bynum is already a very good passer, he looks to pass the ball to much. Which is good and bad. He needs to look to score more often. Something that will happen as he gains confidence with his shot and builds more upper body strength.
I think Bynum is gonna be a beast once he learns more and gains confidence. Not sure how long that will take him.
I think you guys matchup very good with San Antonio. They really do need to make a move. They need another legit scorer. Houston will more than likely be injured. I can't see McGrady being healthy come playoff time. Although Yao could give any team a run for it's money in a 7 game series. The only reason the Lakers have so many young players playing big minutes is due to injuries. Lamar plays heavy minutes and can play either the 3 or 4 very easily. Also when the Mavs go small ball he can move to the 5 and keep up with Dirk. But our weakness is at the PG position and if we don't get big games out of Smush or Farmar (still a rookie), we will not be able to beat the elite teams.
Next year he should be solid. The year after (if he keeps working hard), he should be very close to All-Star level if not an All-Star player.
