And I'll say again, Nash's lack of D never is a reason why they lose, because he never covers the guys who beat them, because that has been the big man the last 3 years, or lack thereof on his own side last year.

The ability to play d has to factor in when evaluating him as a player. If you think espn or most of the mainstream analysts are good at evaluating basketball, then you need to find some other source to get your info. Just because he isn't a top 5 doesn't mean he's not great.

He is so damn good at the offensive end that it negates most all of his defensive liabilities. There is no other player in basketball anywhere near him when it comes to creating offensive opportunities for his entire team, and thats what makes him so great, and thats what keeps him as a top 5 player.

Most but not all. Its the reason they continue to get bounced in the playoffs. They are forced to play people out of position in order to cover opposing point guards. I'm thinking thats not a position a top five player puts his team in. He's far from the complete package a top player should be. I'm having a hard time putting a one dimensional player in any top five list. Sorry.

Hey don't be sorry, because you are no NBA expert like all those guys who do put him in there are. And he is far from one dimensional, because basketball is not just offense and defense.

Its funny how offense gets the love over defense. What Nash does on the offensive end, Ben Wallace did in Detroit on the defensive end. Why wasn't he mentioned in top 5 discussions? Bowen? Rodman (when he was playing)?

Yeah, they are one dimensional also. You can be an expert, but it far from precludes you from not seeing the forest because of the trees.

Nash isn't a top five player. If he was, his team would be at the top already. If and when they get there, I might change my tune. Until then, I'm of the opinion that he simply doesn't make his team that much better in most phases of the game. Just some. Hence my claim.

Well you disagree all you want, but like I said, NBA experts and people who really know much better than you or I continue to put him up there amongst the top 5 consistently now. So yes, he sure as is a top 5 player, you discounting that will not change it because you, like me, are just a fan.

    Funny.........

We're talking about sports and player rankings. Doing Medical Physics requires being an expert. Discussing who is a top five player requires observation , a skill that pretty much anyone without sensory or some cognitive deficits is adept at. It also requires that you have an opinion, and we all know what they say about those........

I laugh at the notion that anyone is capable of analyzing a players ranking better than someone else due to some esoteric knowledge base that only an expert could posess.

It ain't particle physics. I can tell you there's a difference. (not to mention the that the entire discussion is an essentially subjective one at the end of the day).

My only point: They claim a player without a complete skillset is a top five player.

I may well be wrong, but the results of late back up my thinking thus I challenge that notion. Simple.

Only for the last 3 years...He what has two seasons like that left...He will be known as a very good, nay a great point guard for 5 years in the league after he retires....He was a very decent point guard in Dallas and his first two seasons in the league(with Phoenix) I wont count...Now he has only been talked about since he returned to phoenix with the talent around him....he has been great for three seasons in a run and gun offense...hmmm...coincidence? He has no defensive skills and has never won a ring....and probably never will as a starter...top 5...No....Top 10...No...I cant say that he has been great for the past ten years when he has only been great for the past 3 in a system with alot of talent.....He isnt the best PG ever and isnt even close to top 5 in that category either IMO...He is a great player and story for the last 3 years....no more no less...Doesnt grace any of my "top ten" categories at all...But he has been great for 3 seasons...

Tmac and Lebron are both > Kidd
I'll give you Lebron being better, maybe. But Tmac? Until he leads a team past the 1st FREAKING ROUND OF THE PLAYOFFS, he's just another good player.

Bowen was on Nash more than anyone else.
Until game 6, Parker was on Nash when he wasn't scoring.
I'm hardly giving Parker credit for giving spot duty on Nash. Ditto with Barbosa.
So you won't give him any credit for the defense that he played against two really good offensive players on whom he spent close to all his time in his most recent playoff series. Okay. Sorry I wasted my time.

Bull lol. Bruce Bowen (with 2 help defenders waiting) were the one giving Nash fits and frustrating him. It sure as wasn't Tony Parker. And I'll conclude this by laughing at your pathetic usage of the dumbass phrase "Pwn3d." What are you, 12?
This is my favorite part. You use "lol" and laugh about pwn3d.
