Who said anything about him being well-respected? Not many people respect Mr. Ford's a en when Matt Millen still has a job.

He is well-respected within the NFL hierarchy.

The media and fans are another matter.

Don't ever compare the NFL to the NBA ever again. You just pwned yourself on every level imaginable.
It can easily be compared to that. Pats=lakers Colts=Spurs. Pats owned them for years then Indy gets over the hump and wins it all. That matchup is expected to be the afc le game/superbowl. So I was making a simple analogy. I wasnt saying it was exactly like that but it in ways resembles that rivalry.

Are you guys really arguing who the classier players and coaches are?

As a fan of one of the loyalest and most well-respected owners in the NFL, that stuff doesn't matter. At all.
That's right. That is why the Colts are still the team to beat, and everyone else is on a level below them, until they are beaten in the playoffs.

    larry whigham.
Only takes you back to '94.

Now if you had said Tony Eason or Sam Cunningham...then I would have been impressed.

everybody knows who tony eason is. I could have said Andre Tippett or Hart Lee s but that wouldn't mean a whole of a lot either.

if you don't know the significance of Larry Whigham then you don't know much about the Patriots. not that I'm expecting a Cowboys fan to.

So I guess Tom Brady will start getting pissed at Belichick and run him out of town, then all the WRs will demand trades and NE will lose in the first round for several years, or fail to make the playoffs altogether?

Please, just stop trying to make this comparison.

Colts-Patriots is Colts-Patriots. There is no rivalry like it. I'm not saying it's the most fierce of rivalries (basically it was years of the Patriots ting all over the Colts, and now the pendulum has swung the other way so that the Colts all over the Patriots - and now both sides pretty much respect each other while having some hatred) but there's no comparing what may go down as the two greatest quarterbacks in NFL history dueling each other for years.

I was talking about the ing rivalry ON THE FIELD between the two teams. That was the only basis I was touching on. Not about talking, team implosion or someone being like Kobe or Shaq or Tim Duncan. Remember the Spurs/Lakers being the nba finals and now the Colts/Pats is considered by many as the superbowl. What the is wrong with making a minor comparison in terms of eliteness?

A lot of things are wrong with it. The NBA and the NFL go together about as well as lamb and tunafish.

Calm down junior, don't get your drawers in a bunch...it was a joke. Hence the smileys.

It's more like to the Wings/Avs rivalry of the early 90s.

Both franchises hated the other with a passion. The Wings had the better record but would choke in the playoffs until 1997. Then they repeated in 98 after going through a grueling 7 game series with the Avs.

Now, the rivalry is gone, much like the Pats/Colts will be in a few years due to FA and retirements.

You say Tomato, I say tuhmahto, you say Larry Whigham, I say Bill Bates. Every franchise has those kinds of players.

Agreed but I think Mono thought I was calling him out, when in fact I wasn't. I made that pretty clear...or so I thought.

Never said the 2 sports or even the rivalaries were alike. I picked a few points from that specific storyline and it had some relation. If you disagree fine. You dont need to be a prick about it.
