As far as I'm concerned, only the Spurs and Pistons have any right to resort to le smack. The Heat have been dismantled, and the Shaq/Kobe Lakers are no more. If the Lakers win a le this spring, put them in that group, but in the meantime, only two fanbases have the right to le smack.

If your going to attack Houston it would help to win a ONE le first. We haven't won in over ten years true, but we have won. I can't recall Dallas ever hoisting a trophy.

What a weak dumb this monoslab is.
You obviously don't know what you are talking about. Lakeshow is a rockets fan that used to post on a Mavs forum with me and mono. Then he decided to come here and fake as a Lakers fan to talk to Spurs fans (lame as that he has to change his team just to "talk ") only he got his ass owned in the process and then got banned. I initially came to mess around too, only i still remained a Mavs fan (didn't bail on my team like some got here), and eventually decided to start posting here, as this board has a lot more traffic and is more fun than other boards.

Because the Pistons have retained the team that won a le and remained at a championship level, the Spurs have as well. The Lakers didn't. They have undergone a resurgence this year, but they have yet to prove they can win a le with their current group. I'm not saying they won't, outside of San Antonio and Detroit, they have as good a shot as anybody, but they broke up the team that won three les in a row.

Obviously the Lakers have a more storied franchise than Dallas, and most observers agree that the Lakers are slightly better than the Mavericks right now. But we still need to play the games later this spring.

Ok, I agree with that. The Lakers do have to still play the game but what I don't understand is that they are at the top of the WC right now and have been playing dominating ball. Why Lakers fans cant hope and feel good about their chances is what I don't understand. They have to start somewhere and we think this may be the season.

I think there are a lot of Laker fans that give the rest a bad name. You have to admit the Lakers fanbase is full of frontrunning bandwagoners not willing to stick around for the bad times, few as they are for that franchise.

I actually don't have a problem with the Faker fans bringing up their les. They won them fair and square.
What makes them look re ed is the claims of superiority based on a 20 years old center that happened to have a good stretch of regular season games and Gaysol who has been a failure as a franchise player, and is the premier softy post player in the league.
But hey, the flipside is that when the playoffs come around and they get their asses handed to them, they'll go away.

As a die hard Lakers fan, I agree - the Spurs are still the team to beat in the west (as long as they stay healthy) - Lakers fans should not be counting on anything until Bynum is back in the lineup and it is proven he can play well with Gason & Odom - also, the team in its present form has only been together a short time

That being said, if Bynum does come back strong and can integrate with the rest the Lakers can be a very scary team - perhaps this year, and watch out next year once they get more playing experience together...

What Laker fans are really thinking (if you take away all of the smack talk) is that the pain from the Shaq trade is finally wearing off and the future finally looks very bright and it is exciting to watch them play well again (Kobe always worked harder than Shaq after '02, and the declining Shaq was the one who needed to be traded if they couldn't get along).

I do agree that the bandwagon has filled up, which is always the case in LakerLand when the lakers are on top. The mavs dealt with the same thing when they were on top but for those of us who went thru the bad times with this lakers team, i don't see anything wrong with feeling good about this team. I do see where you're coming from though.
