Random guy on Twitter who has "trustworthy source".

    Fire up your lighters, everybody.
Sounds like he should have an account on Spurstalk.

I predict that nothing happens until after team USA mini camp later this month. I think the Spurs give it one last try to see if Kawhi can get control of his group.

No, the one telling move is that the leaks from the Spurs camp have started. That alone tells me they're done. They kept a pretty tight lid on things to try to work it out, and that's over now.
Why would they do that while he's still on the team? You'd kill any trade value he has left.

You said he was going to a city west of San Antonio.

    A done deal.

    What happened?

And this is what saddens me. Blame it on the Canadian weed, but I always hope that we don't hear anything until July 16 because the Spurs want one last chance to rectify the situation and offer Kawhi the supermax at some point if he can prove that he is healthy and committed (to the team, not the psych ward).

But you're right I fear, I feel like Kawhi is 100% gone and we are going to get pennies on the dollar. It could be another 10-15 years before we get someone as good as Kawhi.

Pretty sure all gms already knew how difficult Kawhi's group was which indicated the bad trade offers. Spurs doing this shows two things: 1) They are defending their reputation for other agents and players to see. and/or 2) making a desperate PR attack on Kawhi's uncle and agent to entice Kawhi to finally give up on them and repair Spurs relationship.

The truth being out there shouldn't hurt anyone but give more credibility to the Spurs. All the cards are out on the table per se.

I hope something does happen today. Hopefully not Philly. I don't like any of their players. Fultz is a huge question mark. Covington is overpaid. Sairic is decent, but we're talking about Kawhi Frkn Leonard.

Or until Rookies, most of whom just signed their contracts, are eligible to be traded after a 30-day period.

    So early-mid August.

    I’m sold.

Ultimately, Kawhi just wants to be compe ive for a ring. Chances are this is going to happen. Sixers may have some nice assets to trade.

Besides, with Lebron out of the East, Kawhi with 76ers it automatic finals contender.

Aldridge, Derozan and Gay is the most anti-2018 team I can think of all you need is Carmelo to complete it..

Kawhi for OG, Siakam, Valanciunas and a 1st. All 3 are depth at positions we definitely need. OG and Siakam are on super cheap deals, and are already able to contribute. Trade works Salary Wise perfectly also unless I am missing something. At this point I’d do that in a heartbeat.

Anything can happen. With supermax money involved there are many reasons for motivation to work things out. I think it's entirely possible the Spurs have said 'it's yours' if you are healthy and onboard. He will have to play to prove it...even if just at training camp.

Still think Philly is the frontrunner if the decision not to keep him has been made.

A 3&D starter, a backup PF, and a starting center making a ton of money but he's basically just as unplayable against good teams as Pau Gasol. No thank you.

If Siakam's jumper even approaches respectable, he's a starter, but you're still right. Worse, the Raptors, already thin at forward, wouldn't trade both Anunoby and him.

I don't know why people are getting worked up about this anyway. There's not a chance in the Spurs would trade Leonard for the most flawed "star" in the league, whose going on 29 and would cement them as a treadmill team for the foreseeable future. If anything, this is good news if the 76ers buy them as a serious threat (doubtful though).

Fultz and Ingram may never even become DeRozan, but at least with them and picks there's an unknown and a possible bridge to the future.

There's also no chance that Kawhi would agree to stay with the Raptors long-term

They would gladly shed Derozan's deal for 1 year of Kawhi + the possibility of convincing him to stay, but can't see them moving their young starters for the future for just 1 season of Kawhi(especially with LeBron being gone, they'll probably take a shot with their team, as is)

Kawhi going to Philly would make the East far more interesting than the West IMO..

A Boston-Philly bloodbath would be way more entertaining than watching the Warriors against a bunch of decent teams

The quality of that trade hinges mostly on how well you think anunoby will develop. Similar height, build, wingspan as rookie kawhi. His rookie year was very similar to that of Kawhi's right down to the defensive specialist whose shooting came along much better than originally thought. If the front office thinks it can develop him the same way as it did kawhi you make that move.

I agree with your assessment on Siakam, dude is very underrated. He's fast, long, and has demonstrated that he can make plays on the move.
