Starting raining here in north Dallas at about 2:30, winds not too bad though. Rain is only drizzling now.

Because of all the morons who didn't evacuate, they're now commencing with the largest search and rescue effort ever in Texas! All those rescue workers have to put themselves in harms way to save people too stupid to escape the storm.

I applaude Gov. Perry and all the other officials who have made it VERY clear that they're now having to send people into harms way to rescue the people who defied the evacuation order.

I do think it's kinda funny that so many of those people called 911 in a panic during the height of the storm and they were told "so sorry - we can't get to you now."

They said the mayor of Orange, Tx was pissed about people staying, apparently there's a couple hundred on their roofs calling for help. Said he was going to figure out if there was a way to charge them for staying in the wake of a mandatory evac, something like criminal mischief/trespass, etc.

Galveston, Bolivar peninsula, and Orange county must be ed. All the Houston channels have choppers up doing overflights, but the government is not letting them over those areas. In part, due to ongoing rescue operations, but still...

South of Galveston, authorities said 67-year-old Ray Wilkinson was the only resident who didn't evacuate from Surfside Beach, population 800. He was drunk and waving when authorities reached him on Saturday morning.

Anyone know if College Station got any significant damage? One of my best friends goes to A&M and he works for the their police department. I havent been able to get a hold of him at all over the last 24 hours and I am kinda worried. He never has his cell off but that hasnt been the case over the past day.

Yes, she is. Currently we're awaiting water pressure to come back. Monday morning at 8am we're going to make our way towards the fedex facility near Bush and get our Cowboys tickets and then leave to Dallas.

Can't give out much details...there is going to be a lot of search and rescues in the morning and MANY people to be transfered to shelters in the area....
Think about this... Retirement communitie(s) and POSSIBLY a nursing facility "someplace" left behind a whole lot of people.
If anybody has or ever has a loved one in a place as described...have a plan to evacuate your love one if the facility/manager can't or won't give you any details on a contingency plan for disasters such as a hurricane/ flooding.

That's crap. Damage report for me is a lot of trees down, and lots of flooding. We're very fortunate with the power & minimal water running.
