I think Biden is going to pull this off, but the Democratic Party has some serious soul searching to do. One logical next step is moving to the right on immigration, there’s no point in being pro immigration if s and s are going to vote Republican.
3rd/4th generation Latino descent here. The dumbass misconception Dems have is that the "hispanic vote" is monolithic and that they have a kind of La Raza solidarity with each other or some . My parents, uncles, cousins, and such are about as removed from "hispanic culture" as you could be. I don't speak a lick of Spanish and never been to Meeheeco. One of the primary grievances of older hispanics, who are maybe 2nd or 3rd generation, is that their ancestors came here legally and "did it the right way," while they see new generations of hispanic immigrants have carte blanche in that regard. It's a misguided point-of-view, because many boomer hispanics don't understand that when their parents immigrated, all you had to do was take a test. Now the process is a lot more byzantine and expensive.

Many hispanics are also in law enforcement and have served in the military, which usually attract right leaning personalities.

, WI looks bad for Biden though. Razor thin margin right now for Biden with Kenosha still having 30% of their ballots uncounted. Then NV is trending badly and Trump has run up the score so much in PA in the first 75% counted I don't see how Biden makes it up.

I’m now realizing why Trump was terribly bashing mail in balloting. I really think Biden will squeak this one out. It looked like he was all but dead in MI. Remember man this is a totally different year than before with the early voting and mail in ballots

If we’re being honest Hispanic men aren’t very smart people and voted for Trump because they think he has “machismo”. The logical next step for Democrats is taking a sharp turn towards anti-immigration populism, it’s clearly what the electorate wants.

even if biden manages to pull off the win... how the can dems be confident if Florida/Ohio are more red than purple? leaves them such a narrow window

So best case scenario now is Biden narrowly wins the EC, Peters barely hangs on to his seat in MI, and the Kelly + Hickenlooper pickups plus the Jones loss and likely Collins wins make the senate 48-52 in McConnell's advantage.

instead they like president who separates hispanic families at the border.

Sorry but Hispanics are irrational voters (if they were rational voters South America wouldn’t be such a heaping pile). The logical move for Democrats is trying to win some of the rural white vote back by being anti immigration.

Amazes me how Republicans keep being viewed as better on the economy even though we always have deep recessions under GOP rule that Democrats have to pull the nation out of. And then as soon as they do Republicans get voted back into power.

In addition to immigration, I think the Dems need to agree to disagree on social issues. It makes no sense to have a one-size-fits-all policy on guns, feminism and other social issues. What works in California won't work in the midwest. They need to adapt like the Republicans have - R candidates in Blue states are strongly anti-Trump while the Red-state Rs can't wait to suck him off

The hispanic base still majorly breaks for Dems, but Hispanic-Americans do have their own form of "hick." Here in California, the hispanics I know who like Trump are fully Americanized, but he appeals to them through his immigration stance and "tell it like it is" bluster, which I guess we can call machismo, but it's more similar to how hick voters describe what they like about Trump. That "he's real and doesn't hold back."

I'd say the Cubans are probably more attracted to the "machismo" idea.

lol Biden is still going to win Democrats.

It was always kind of obvious with their devotion to christianity and conservative traditional beliefs hispanics could be picked off. Its just surprising Trump was the one to start breaking through on them.

Because they’re idiots the same way rural white evangelicals are. All you need to do is fear monger a little about socialism and the s will vote against the candidate they hear is socialist.

Letting Castro use South Florida as a trashcan to dump all the right wing s in his country was one of the worst immigration policies in US history.

]Trump invited Vanessa Guillen's family to the white house, even if it was for just a photo shoot. Didn't see from Dems. They were too busy championing black criminals.

GOP base is all-in with the COVID excuse for the economy without any level of examination of whether we possibly could have done anything different to soften the blow

they view trump as a wizard with the economy who got blindsided by a pandemic that would have gone down exactly the way it did no matter who was president

Gotta think Harris getting the VP nod turned off a lot of latinos too. But that might be the only thing that saves them in Michigan. Doesn't look like it's going to in PA. Man the Democrats are so ed. This election was a ing wide-open layup with Trump crashing this nation the last eight months and best case now is one of the most narrow electoral wins we'll have seen.

This last part is silly. Almost all of the communist refugees treat socialism as a dirty word. Vietnamese immigrants were/are the same way for a long time. Probably would have been smart for the Republicans to let a bunch of people in from Hong Kong but they were too xenophobic to consider that.

I was going to give Reagan all the credit in the world for screwing Florida's electoral politics for good with that move and then realized it was ing Jimmy Carter who let Castro do it
