Yup... that dumb Lillard trade totally screwed their future tracheotomy smh
This actually makes sense from financial standpoint because they'll drop below second apron.

Easy to say in hindisght, but they should've just done a soft reset and traded Jrue/Middleton for younger players while they still had value.
They would've been back up now instead of just hoping Giannis doesn't ask out.

Guessing something based around Durant to GS, Butler to Miami, and Kuminga/Podz and draft compensation to Miami
If Suns trade KD for Jimmy+FRP it will be as bad of a move as Luka trade.
If Booker isn't asking out, they should just get the best long-term offer for KD and try to retool in the summer, otherwise it's over.
If they get Jimmy they'll extend him and have $100M on the books for him and Beal until 2027.

Guessing something based around Durant to GS, Butler to Miami, and Kuminga/Podz and draft compensation to Miami
Article states - There's reason to believe that an ultimate deal between the three sides could look something like this:

    Miami Heat
    Receive
    Andrew Wiggins, Buddy Hield
    Gary Payton II, Kevon Looney
2025 1st Round Pick (via PHO)
2025 2nd Round Pick (via GS)

    Golden State Warriors
    Receive
    Kevin Durant
    Josh Richardson
    Monte Morris

    Phoenix Suns
    Receive
    Jimmy Butler
    Alec Burks
2027 1st Round Pick (via GS)

[Fischer] I’m told a key element of the trade talks that brought Kyle Kuzma to Milwaukee in exchange for championship mainstay Khris Middleton: a large vote of support for Kuzma from one Giannis Antetokounmpo.
GMiannis might be worse than LeGM, tbh.

Kris Middleton’s falloff has been rough.

Middleton is still way better than Kuzma. What a moronic trade. Kuzma makes Vassell's defense look like Prime Gary Payton.

Houston would be crazy not to go for Durant with their Phoenix picks. The west is wide open and they’ll have another move to make with their remaining assets. Sure it’s smart to be patient but when incredible opportunities arise they shouldn’t hesitate, they have the infrastructure to max out Durant’s on-court value and their offense gets super ugly at times, which is their biggest issue. No brainer.
Nah Houston has Phoenix by the balls so badly they 100% should hold out for Booker.

Bucks just got worse. They traded a 12 PPG 40% 3-point shooter for a 15 PPG 29% 3-point shooter. Just double Giannis and leave Kuzma open, so he can throw airballs. The only thing this did for them was some salary relief.

And they traded AJ Jackson who's been in their rotation for Patrick Baldwin Jr. who's a Wizards third stringer What an idiotic front office

It’s great for the Spurs. Giannis is surely asking out this summer. He’s already dropping hints that he’s ready to move on. B Wright better hold onto all those remaining first round picks.

Looking at all those teams fumble their championship window by trading for washed up stars really makes me appreciate PATFO. I know I on them a lot, but if they know one thing, it's how to build long term success and not make stupid reactionary moves.

They've made some good trades recently which they should deservedly get credit for.

But we have no evidence that the current regime can accomplish this just yet. The Spurs have the 3rd longest playoff drought in the NBA and I believe are one of the only teams to not have won 5 straight this decade. They need to actually start showing something above marginal improvement, and they need to start showing it soon tbh.

Never underestimate the stupidity of some FOs/owners.

There was some tweet about the Spurs trading with the same few teams over and over like a good poker player picking on the suckers. Exploiting the Suns in their always-win-now-mode should be easy money, but there are also plenty of teams looking to prey on them.

I didn't have the Mavs in the sucker group but they have certainly earned a place in that category. They are like the good, tight player that suddenly loses their mind and inexplicably open shoves 100 big blinds with KK and runs into AA.

I really don't understand Jimmy Butler's obsession with being traded to PHX, especially if KD isn't going to be there. Makes no sense. They're still going to be ass, especially considering KD is still significantly better than Jimmy.

It makes perfect sense. It's not about winning, but about the money.
Jimmy has a player option this summer which he doesn't want to exercise. He wants to get another 3 year max instead.
Suns are the only team dumb enough to offer him a 150/3 extension, noone else would even consider it.
I have to say his PR team did a solid job tricking people into thinking Jimmy is about winning and not about the money.

I hope he stays in Miami and gets suspended for the rest of the season.

Due to Wemby, I also think we have potential to get max level stars below max level pay. Not saying way below and not saying that is Giannis. Fox could be a candidate in that regard.

Agreed it's a dumb trade, especially the way Kozma's been shooting the ball lately. Also a slap in the face of one of their franchise players in Middleton to not only trade him for Kyle Kuzma, but to trade him to the ing Wizards of all places.

I don't think even PHX is dumb enough to give a 36 year-old and clearly regressing Jimmy Butler that kind of money but if they do, they deserve everything bad that's coming to them.

Agreed on the second part of your statement though. Always liked JB but I've really soured on him with all his selfish bull this season. Hope he doesn't get what he wants but it looks like he's going to. Think Pat Riley just wants him gone at this point. The locker room has turned-on him too.

Fully agree. At this point, he's just chasing the dollars, but initially I think he did want to go because Booker/Durant were there. Now I don't think he cares about anything else than to save face and get his extension.

This trade gets Bucks under the second apron , which opens up some possibilities for them. It's still bad, but not THAT bad, definitely desperate.

I don't get why PHX has a hard-on to get rid of Durant. Booker is even more beta than he is. Get rid of him. Get your picks back.

This trade proposal is wild. Phoenix gets a malcontent player who kind of sucks now and just wants tons of money in Butler. They lose their actually good player in Durant.

The Warriors get Durant back for practically nothing.

And Miami gets a platter of decent stuff for getting rid of malcontented crappy player.
