We've been poised for this moment since yes, since Cornbread Maxwell humiliated us in the Summer of '84. Magic responded immediately, took us all, the living & the dead with him.

This is the bell lap, Lakers Brothers. Magic, bless his heart knows this. Absolutely knows it at this moment in time. He's intimidated same to Bryant, and Bryant knows it too without being told.

Magic, yes, still Magic, & Bryant will take us all there, the living & the dead. We'll finish this. We'll lock at 17, and then we'll go on to the end.

    Good stuff, Picc.

Kobe won't sit anyway. He's sitting this off season and that will eat at him something fearsome as the months tick by till October. And he shouldn't sit come November. He needs to push himself, thereby pushing the team. That's what he did last season and the payoff came late against Phoenix and Boston when his latent imperfections led to the challenge that Artest met most admirably.

Let's see if Blake will sponge up Kobe's leadership like Artest did, then turn it around when we're at risk and finish it, like Artest did.
Maybe a few years ago, but look what happened in the finals. We got to game 7 and Kobe said afterward he ran out of gas. Yeah we won but my was looking Tmac-in-May for most of the game - ghost. Maybe if he gets some more rest during the reg season that doesn't happen.

Thats why I was hoping we'd get Mike Miller. Not only for outside shooting, but to give Kob a break.

Still, Blake was the next best thing available, and I don't think you have to worry about his leadership. I've been watching some of his Blazers games on youtube, mostly the 1st round vs Houston last year, and he's not one lacking for maturity on the court. Unlike Ron, there arent even questions about it, he's the anti-farmar/brown in terms of leadership and decision-making.

I may be mistaken, but, I don't believe Kobe said he ran out of gas. He said, in essence that the Celtics had his number|||and they did, and that his team mates came thru for him in his time of need. If anything, he was too hyper in Game 7. Fisher had to repeatedly implore him to slow down, to let it happen instead of fast forwarding thru it to the end of the tape.

Miller's legs are shot. His time for us has sadly passed. Trying to squeeze prime out of him now is foolhardy.

Bell, and/or McGrady should be our targets now. Bell would be in '11 to Kobe what Artest was to Kobe in '10.

Speed is not an essential. The game slows down the further it goes along in the season. By the time May & June roll around the pace is to a crawl. The separation between success and failure is inches, and defense can make those inches up easily, that's why the Celtics couldn't get out and run. We just worked harder on the boards and getting back by the aforementioned "inches"....viola.

First rule: do no harm. Does Farmar obey this rule? No. He abuses it. So does Walton, but, we're stuck with his honkey-lips ass.

Does Brown obey this rule? Better than the above two, but, he's still dicey.

Blake {looks} like somebody who will obey this rule.

every time I see his contract and the production he delivers, I get depressed.

You can't trust him, thats it. He's a disaster waiting to happen.

They're floating this trail balloon of him going into coaching because of the back problems, but, if they think NY is going to buy that and waiver out his contract, they're nuts. Those waivers are rarely ever granted.

He did say he ran out of gas. Anywho, we still won, they lost, the out-house is all stained and soiled from us taking a in it. And we're well on our way to 17, all while Mav and Sunfan continue their proud tradition of 0'fering. Russell is getting good at handing that trophy over to Kobe... how sweet is that. Oh, and James is losing again.
Noticed that. Seems he's been polishing his technique over the last couple years and has finally found the smoothest route, and with the least wind resistance. If his trophy handing had a PER of 22 last year, its within Lebron James level now.

Won't be a problem. We have two 7 footers backing him up. He is also a defensive upgrade over Fisher. We'll be straight.

The best part for me is we finally break the Rose Garden curse.

There has to be something wrong with their scheme. Lakers bring in Payton, he gets used. Lakers bring in Blake, he gets used. Fisher's been used for years .... just can't figure it out.

Blake isn't underrated at all, he's not that good..it's a good upgrade over Farmar, but he'll get a lot more hyped because of the team that signed him..
I'll bump the funnier thread in a minute..

The Blazers dumped the guy, twice. When has Blake ever been good? At least Payton performed well in the regular season. His legs just left him by the end and he couldn't handle Phil giving his clutch minutes to Fish.

Gotta give props to Riles the way he handled Payton. Phil is just an ass to his players and most outside of Jordan/Kobe/Shaq don't deal with the criticism via media very well.
