For the record, Manu carried the team on his shoulders against the Mavs in '06. Without his contributions, we might not even have made it to game 7.
What the are you talking about?

Duncan averaged 32.3/11.7/3.7 and 2.6 bpg on 56% over those seven games.

Ginobili averaged 21/4.3/1.9 apg on 49%. It should also be noted that Manu averaged more TOs than assists that series. Regardless, I don't blame Ginobili.

We never should have been in the hole in the first place and I blame Pop. He had homecourt advantage, the best player in the series(TD outplayed Dirk) and still lost to one of the worst coaches in NBA history in Avery Johnson. Give Phil Jackson that Spurs team and we beat the Mavs in six games.

The Dirk foul did not cause them the le, and he did not cause the game six loss.

It's really hypocritical how you use the "what have you done for me now" tactic, yet you completely ignore Leonard's botched free throw, as well as Pop's completely idiotic move to take Duncan out (did he not watch the Pacers/Heat game one?).

The fact is, despite the turnovers, we could have won that game. But in the time Manu shot the free throw, we botched two rebounds, and another free throw.

This is a team game. Even if Ginobili DID "cost" you spoiled fans two les, what part of "we wouldn't have won three" wouldn't you understand?

That's the problem with Spurs fans nowadays. This guy is a pioneer for European basketball and their players. He was supposed to be our 57th pick (garbage second round pick to never play for us) and he turned into one of the best damn shooting guards, if not the best, of the decade. Imagine the stats he could have pulled if he left San Antonio.

    But he didn't.

He played a sixth man role for his career humbly. He's acknowledged that as long as Tim Duncan plays beside him, they will always win the le. How could you even dislike this guy? He was the one in game seven putting his heart and soul into the entire game, while Danny Green shot 1-17, while Tony Parker the bed due to injury. He pulled 18 points and 5 assists in game seven, including an incredibly clutch step-back three and layup. But noone seems to notice that.

You don't think those "won three les for us" matters now, but I guarantee you would if you never would have won those les. I also guarantee you cared when it occurred.
Obviously the Manu haters do not want to hear the truth, they are too consumed in their biased hate, but you have outlined the truth pretty thoroughly.
They should commend you for it as I do, but they will keep posting narrow minded posts and ignoring reality.
Bandwagon fans do that typically. They've lost all credibility by posting fiction out of context.

Look--Manu is just old now. Why all the hate? The loss of the nba finals is on popovich for over playing and over relying on Manu when everyone out there can see that the man is done.

The problem is you guys are confusing FACT with opinion.
It has been shown that there were reasons beyond Manus control that explains his turnovers. Yet you guys flatly refuse to acknowledge any of it. At the very least you should admit that your accusations about him are YOUR OPINIONS.
The same is true for Pop, that there have been shown that there were strategic basketball reasons for what he did too, yet you guys refuse to see those as well.
And you guys have been shown and explained countless times how ludicrous and ridiculous it is to throw all the blame on one or two, when the actual facts were that the whole team messed up at one time or another in the finals.
At least state these are your opinions. Then you won't be faced with the opposition that you are now, and your credibility will quit suffering toward total erosion.
    Just trying to help.

Reasons beyond his control like PHYSICS. You can't pass to a teammate through an opposing player.

I know that is what you think, but you completely discount the Heats' D, among other reasons that many here have already pointed out, and that none of you are even willing to acknowledge.
I am appealing to your sense of reason here.

And the sole reason I continue to call you guys out is simply that, that you refuse to even consider the whys these things happened. To attribute it solely on Manu being all washed up, and then coming up with silly threads saying that he was completely responsible for them not having other les too, that is just totally preposterous to the reasonable Spurs fan.

It makes us wonder if you guys are just trolling, seriously. You see, when you try to force an opinion into being a fact as much as you guys do, you turn it away from being a valid opinion and into an obsession. When we see you doing that, it turns everyone off and makes us not take you seriously, now, or in the future.

Nobody disputes that he made mistakes. I repeat, nobody disputes Manu made mistakes, but you guys also refuse to see that other great, and not so great, Spur players made mistakes too. Plus you are willing to give them passes, but not Manu.
Don't you think you are being just a bit unreasonable?

I am just appealing to your sense of fair play, and asking for some reason, rather than obsession, to rule the day.

Well I hope he improves over last year. Not holding my breath.... But hoping. I sense a collapse coming. No way we make the Finals after a loss like that....when everything went our way....

    Never say never.
We weren't supposed to make it last year either.
We just might have a better team this year.
And every one of the Spurs championship seasons has been preceded by disheartening loses like we had last season.
So don't count them out. Never underestimate the heart of a champion.
Every year the Spurs are supposed to be done according to the experts, and every year they prove them wrong.

Experts say Spurs are done winning championships not having a 0-82 season, and so far they are right 6 years and counting

Yeah, they been saying that for a long time. They said it last year too. And look what almost happened.
I never believe the experts when it comes to the Spurs anymore.
And I never count the Spurs out.
