As much as I love Manu, his insistance in playing almost every summer with the Argentine national team means that he probably has less NBA gas left in his tank than KG does, and we do have three NBA calibur shooting guards on the roster, as opposed to one NBA calibur big. We don't need KG to be THE GUY. What we need from him is exactly what he provides: consistant offense, and ferocious defense, capped by the double digit defensive rebounds he's averaged over the last 4 years. KG is also a fairly good shotblocker, and I have to belive that his career 1.7 per game would jump back up over 2 the way it has a couple of times playing in the Spurs "funnel to the bigs" defensive scheme.

    We
    would
    OWN.

Yeah, the Spurs would win the le easily in my opinion with a front line that included Duncan & KG. Ginobli is a really good player and, obviously, a much loved player but he's not in KG's class.

Which is why it won't happen. My treatise was mainly for those who wouldn't do it if it were offered. That's the purest form of foolishness. KG in lieu of Manu makes your team better, and the prohibitive favorite for the NBA le for next four years.

How did this thread start? What source?
    This is BS.

    Well I got one too.
I was getting a beer a bar the other night and somebody farted and I heard it say that we were going to make some trades and end up with a line up of

    Duncan
    Garnett
    Bryant
    Wade
    Kidd

It smelled like it was telling the truth. The source was an ass but I believe it.

It's a bit longer offseason than usual. People are going to post stuff. Not all of it is going to be factual. Some will be rumors and conjecture. In fact, this thread was clearly labeled as a rumor. If you don't like it, you can:

    a) scroll
    b) set up your own site and eliminate everything that isn't a proven fact. You'll have 4-5 posts.

That is cool, but he was asked where he heard the rumor and I could not find his answer. If he did not respond that is undeniably LAME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rumors rarely have an attributable source. If they do, they're a quote in a story, not a rumor. He may well know who said it and was asked not to say.

That would depend if you are an optomist or a pessimist. During the Tim, Tony, Manu era, we are 50/50 on going all the way. I prefer to think of that as the norm.

Minnesota is trying to rebuild though so they are going to be looking to move Garnett for next to nothing. Because currently he is keeping them sorry enough to not make the playoffs but too good for a decent lottery spot. So they would be more likely to take Manu or someone of lesser value.

No. That depends on how you count the years. You are taking about the trio era. And when talking about Tim's era?
What about the whole spurs exsistance? <----- that is correct.

Yes, because taking the Ice years into account is very relevant to how we view today's Spurs.

You've turned into a real twit, Poland. I used to think you were a pretty good poster, but you're just another negative whiner to go on my ignore list. Hasta la vista, baby.

Wow, what a lineup And yet, most of the Spurs fans on this board would probably not trade Ginobli for any of those guys

No way that's true. That'd be the most lopsided trade in history

Kiki Vandeweghe trade from Denver to Portland was more lopsided than this "trade".

    Calvin Natt
    Fat Lever
    Wayne Cooper
    2 draft picks

    for Kiki

TD+KG would be the end of the NBA. The Spurs would win the le every year the two of them weren't injured. They have about as complementary of games as two big men in the league could have... and then you add Tony Parker to this mix too?

I think I'd probably trade Tony Parker with Manu for KG even, if we could keep Barry and maybe try to snag Banks. Garnet has been a 21+/12+/5+ guy every year since 2001 except last year, when he averaged 4.1 assists playing with crap like Marko Jaric, Ricky Davis, KandiAss, and so on (who's gonna hit a shot on that team no matter how perfect of a position KG puts it in for him?). He's shot in the 47%-53% range every year since '99. He's always good for a block and a half a game too, and he cuts off a lot of passing lanes... you cannot throw the lob against him. I'd give Holt's left nut to get KG in a Spurs uni.
