I agree Howard is a stud for you guys. He might not be your best player, but he is very close. He can do whatever is needed and whatever is asked from him. An excellent jack of all trades.
With a healthy Laker team, I see them beating a healthy Mavs team. It will go 6 or 7, but we match up quite nicely. Oh, I love Howard, and without him the Mavs aren't going anywhere.

You'd be about the only one that thinks this as the Mavs would be HUGE favorites in this series. Anything can happen though.
I'd take the Lakers with the odds.![]()
I just see what I see....of course the Mavs would be heavily favoured especially if they continue this run. I do have a feeling though...the mavs were up big and they kept their starters in the game for most of the 4th...interesting mentality...maybe a little gun shy.
He never stops moving and never gets tired. The energy he brings helps them as much as his #'s do.
I just hope he doesn't make the allstar team as he will use that snub to motivate him even more. That's how he's wired...he has an enormous chip on his shoulder for not getting drafted earlier than he was. He's one of those players that uses things (like not making all star team) to motivate him. He really believes that he's an as good or better player than Melo & LeBron (same draft) and wants to prove it.
I'd probably make that bet as well (cuz you'd get great odds)![]()
That's what makes Kobe so great. Some players thrive off of it.
That's cause the lead got cut down and Avery wasn't about to let the Lakers pull off some miracle come back.
Gun shy?![]()
Avery knew I had a bet on the Mavs -9.5 and didn't want them to blow that for me![]()
He had taken the starters out, the Lakers then cut the lead down to 18-19 (from 27) with 5+ minutes to go and decided to put them back in as you never know. I've seen the Mavs make a big lead go away in less than 5 minutes and when you're playing against Kobe (after he dropped 60+ pts on you last year) there's no point in taking chances. In reality, I think he was making a point to his bench players. He was upset that they were f..king around so he took them out.
Still, it shows a weak mentality....why not let the bench play, its not like we had our starters in the game with exception to Kobe who came in around the 8 min mark. By playing his bench would surely spell relief for Dirk and provide confidence to his bench.
Actually, he's being a hard ass by doing this (not weak mentality). He's making a point that if you want minutes (even in a blowout) you need to perform. Plus, it's not like the starters were expended last night. It was an easy win and they don't play again until Sunday. Avery doesn't allow these guys to coast. They'll be up 20pts with 5 minutes to go and he'll call a timeout and give them a goal or something to work on for the rest of the game. He's an incredible hard ass and he's fortunate that he has the type of players that can deal with it. Eventually, he'll start to wear on some of these guys. That's why it's important to win a le in the next couple of years IMO.
Also, the bench doesn't need confidence. The team is oozing with confidence. One of their few problems is that the entire team is overly confident. It's the reason they get behind in so many games...cuz they think they can come back and win whenever they put forth the focus & effort.
You missed Avery's motive but you don't watch this team every game like I do so it's understandable.
What year do you think this is, 2002? Dirk has become a non-liability on defense. He does a decent job these days. There's a reason the Mavs are on a 33-4 tear. You don't watch Dallas much. You should be worried about the Mavs...I can't believe Laker fans moaning about how Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown would've made a difference last night. Every night Kwame is the opposing team's sixth man.
Get your eyes checked.
We play every other day for the next 4 games or so, no reason not to let the starters get some extra minutes in, especially when Kobe returned after what was a lengthy break int he 4th. Also, our scrubs were allowing too many points while Kobe was sitting so why not bring a couple of starters back in when Kobe returned to keep the double digit lead? Your feeling is nothing but a wrong assumption.
yes since we are 2-1 vs the Spurs, and 2-0 vs Phoenix and both teams were healthy.
im not saying you cant pick another team to go, but saying that you cant even picture us in the finals is ignorance......or jealousy
we have the best record in the NBA, AND we have beaten the quality teams, AND werent we just there last year?
Unbunch your panties. ing about a coach "leaving the starters in too long" when your team gets annihilated is the lowest of the low.
