No problemo...if I had as much problem owning you as you do me, I'd maximize my rare chances as well. And they did make a big deal about Moore in Austin...when he came back, when he retired, and when his jersey was retired...I just superimposed the time frames...easy to do when you are talking about events without archives that happened 10-18 years ago.
Early NBA...probably one of the analysts for TNT circa 94...I want to say Doug Collins but I'm not sure if he was broadcasting then...maybe Hubie. Pretty sure Hubie was the main guy back then.Link to where I asked for a link about Horry being compared to Magic? I just wanted to know in what time period you were talking about. High school? Early college? Late college? Early NBA?
I've followed Horry for a while because I liked the Alabama teams of the early '90's. That 1992 team had Horry, Latrell Sprewell, James Robinson, Cedric Moore, Elliott Washington, David Benoit (i think) ... yet they still underachieved. IIRC, they got bounced in the first round of the tourney. Pretty ironic that not being able to win was one of the reasons why Horry's draft stock wasn't higher . . .
But yeah, I was just wonderin'. D@mn.
Don't know...never heard of Horry before he was drafted...did not like him at all during his early Rocket years. Damn sure didn't think he was a 3 point threat. Found out the hard way that he was....no matter how disinterested and tily he was playing...

"Both of these teams were composed entirely of native Kentuckians, anchored by All-American Basil Hayden."
Check it out, this dude lived to be 103 years old! I wouldn't BS my fellow Spurs fans....
stumped ya, eh? Well, this one is a stumper!!! Rhymes with Jumper!!

You left out Steve Smith.
Horry could dribble and could pass...even though he played C in college. What no one expected him to do that well was shoot.
Horry was amazingly mobile for a bigman, he had well above average passing skills, and he could rebound...hence the Magic comparison.
IF you are a 6'9+ guy that can pass you get compared to Magic back then.
Even now the comparsons aren't that far off when you are talking about his skill set...dude once averaged 4 assists per game( I know that's nowhere near Magic level, but then neither is anyone else compared to him this side of Jason Kidd).
I remember Walt "the Wizard" Williams being compared to Magic Johnson, but never Robert Horry.
Galileo strikes again!

Yeah but my impression of you is that any day you can remember the answer to 1+1 is a banner one for you.
Billy Dee's not overrated, he's Lando
That's fine because your impression is generally inaccurate.

"Although Walt Williams didn't prove to be "the next Magic Johnson," as some college basketball fans labeled him"
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...pagewanted=all
"Now it does, as part of a rookie class that also includes -- if one buys the hype -- the Next Wilt (O'Neal), the Next Bird (Tom Gugliotta), the Next Ewing (Alonzo Mourning) and Maybe the Next Magic (Sacramento's Walt Williams)."

"Williams came into the league as a lead guard with 6’8” size and remarkable court vision. Scouts drooled over the idea of Magic Johnson with a more consistent jumper."
Yea, this thread's gay.
What; is the capital of Assyria!?
Here's some more trivia for my fellow Spurs fan:

George Mikan McDonald
That's all very nice, but I never said Williams wasn't compared to Magic.
It's awesome that there's three different things going on in this thread:
-- A serious argument about Robert Horry, Magic Johnson and Walt Williams
-- People playing Galileo's re ed game for magical points
-- People making fun of him
Galileo -- the answer is Mable Simmons!
That's good that you can admit that much.
Now who ever called Robert Horry the next "Magic Johnson?"
I already said it was an analyst during a Rockets game...probably on TNT and most likely Hubie.
Say you think I am pulling this entirely out of my ass(and I'm not)...
Do you think it's beyond the realm of possibility for Hubie to have confused Walt Williams and Robert Horry...
Do you really?
During a recent Lakers game, Hubie Brown actually pronounced Pau Gasol's name "Ga-Sall" and "Ga-Soul" -- in the same sentence.
It's understandable that someone might get confused with a foreign player's name, but he used to be Gasol's coach.
The guy is certifiable.
I thought the thread was Ok.
I mean, maybe galileo got distracted and it took him a while to answer?
Maybe the threads moved and got posted in quick and he couldn't catch up?
I dunno.
*snip*
All that needed to be said...
Everything else that followed is self explanatory.
I went to the same high school as him. To commemorate the Suns losing to the Bulls in the 93 Finals, we had Oliver Miller Day when I was a sop re. We actually had an assembly and that Chris Arnold moderated it.
