Anyone that has ever been to a US/Mexico border town that has any common sense realizes that drones, sensors, and "technology" can't possibly stop people, drugs, guns, etc. from easily flowing back and forth. In Texas, the towns are literally continuous, with houses and buildings running right up to the river on both sides, and by the time the Rio Grande gets to Texas it's not much of a river or a deterrent to crossings. And yeah, I just got back from checking on a big job in Laredo about an hour ago, so I have seen it recently.

I totally agree we don't need barriers in many sections further west because the terrain and lack of population and roads on either side is a significant deterrent, and drones and sensors would work just fine.
I go there every year. Heck, I cross to Mexico sometimes (was there last December). They probably catch just about the same amount in the checkpoints inland, which if you have ever been there, you know what I'm talking about.

The point being that walls are there, and they haven't stopped . Your bang for the buck is definitely on drones, scanners, border cameras, sensors, personnel and things like EVerify, which close the gap at the other end, which is demand. You're still going to need all the tech whether you build a wall or not, because we all know a wall hasn't stopped a willing intruder in a millennia.

    This can't be real

An "early draft", accidentally posted as part of a FAQ, and not in the final resolution.

Lol, you really believe that FAQ was an accident? I think it's exactly the goal of AOC's puppet master, and they just backwards on it after the backlash.

I actually think it wasn't stupid, and I don't particular agree with AOC on most things.

The Berlin wall was, in fact, immigration control. There were two Germany back then, fully recognized as two different sovereign states. The biggest difference, clearly, is that the Berlin wall was built to keep people in, not out.

Nevertheless, it was a shameful construction that had desperate people willing to risk their lives to overcome it. Frankly, it became a symbol of it's own in the Iron Curtain times.

Now, I'm not in favor of illegal immigration or trafficking, I just find it incredibly dumb that simpletons buy that a medieval deterrent like a wall is more effective than the technological sophistication the US has to counter such a problem.

The reality is that it hasn't been solved because there's no political will to solve it. Good steps have been taken to bring it at the lowest it's been in a long time. We also discussed actual effective means to do that, like EVerify, etc, but those options are seemingly never on the table.

And so, we're pursuing the shameful symbolic wall instead, really for no other reason that it was campaign promise. Cost or efficiency be damned. It's stupid.
    ... and uncons utional.

Executive asked legislative branch for something that ONLY the legislative branch can do per defined powers. Congress refused. Executive ignores.

Can't really support this move, and credibly claim you think the Cons ution is important.

Supposed "conservatives" have been ignoring the emoluments clause because "Republican" for two years now.

Trump Party is making the case for impeachment easier.

Most of the drugs flow through legal checkpoints. How exactly are the drones going to solve that?

Flying over the border in a plane and overstaying a visa is an easy way to bypass that if you want to be in the US. Those drones going to shoot down passenger airlines too?

We need more immigration, and more temporary work permits. It's not that complicated. If you are concerned about laws being upheld, then loosen the laws, and add administrative resources to process requests faster.

Making it difficult simply makes all the problems worse, including the ones that "conservatives" say they care about.

Read up on AOC's chief of staff. He recruited her to front for his platform, not the other way around.

Because that jibes with the settled conservative narrative about her not being intelligent and being naive. Got it.

I must say though, all the attention she is getting from Fox "News" simply adds to her credibility and profile among people outside the bubble, not unlike the free coverage Trump got.

    An odd irony.

Sokay. She is running circles around your pols on social media. It is funny to watch.

Fox, right wing hate media needs filler for air time.

Them must realize that AOC/Dems in Congress won't get anythng progressive past the Senate AND Trash.

House Democrats officially unveil their first bill in the majority: a sweeping anti-corruption proposal

    Democrats will take up

    voting rights,

    campaign finance reform, and

    a lobbying crackdown —

all in their first bill of the year.

    https://www.vox.com/policy-and-polit...ll-hr-1-pelosi

Nothing truly significant can be changed by the House alone.

How about restoring $1B spending cut by Repugs from IRS? won't happen

The Dem bill to stop Trash's Wall Emergency Order will not get past the Senate.

If a miracle occurs (you Christians LOVE miracles) and the bill lands on Trash's desk, WH says he will veto it.

If he's drawing a check, it will come out. Link to the staff directory where he's listed as an employee?
Looks like he was getting paid:
