Why not just save me from having to go to dictionary.com, please.
People who you use big words (ie confound) just for the sake of using big words annoy me.
Why not just save me from having to go to dictionary.com, please.
Extra, you sort of ramble on mindlessly. Making some points but some just hang out there like you're giving a lecture on a street corner. You flirt with crazy.
What would be the difference of him claiming to be the "Child of God" when he stated he was the "Son of God."
Jesus went under the direction of God, and to say he made "errors" is saying God makes errors. Which I highly doubt.
Anyways I'm not one to go on about all that. I could, as I am pretty educated with his teachings and such. But I've have been through too much in my life the past couple years to sit where I once was and claim God is there for me. I don't know that he is anymore, or that his son is even worth praying to anymore. But for some reason when I am in the worst way, I end up doing it anyways with little or no faith even then.
I guess one could say if the biggest Christian or whatever, lives his life believing but then goes through his own stretch of hard times of death and loss then turns to question his own God and existence, he is only human. But for me that's not good enough. I have lived my whole life believing there is something better than this little pathetic materialistic world. Now where I sit I don't think there is. And now all I can say is, I am alive right now and didn't die from that 40 foot drop on my head because of God. But can I? Maybe I was just lucky. Now look who rambles on.
My point is I don't know that there is a point to the bible, or god, or anything. every time I type it I only capitalize it a quarter of the time. I just don't know if I have grown hard inside and fail to see the world as I used to, or I really just an asshole.
It makes me think of one of the best acting scenes of any movie I ever saw. A lot of people didn't like Signs, and that is fine. But there is one part of the movie that was all done in the spur of the moment, it wasn't in the script and they just winged it and they ended up putting it in the movie.
Graham Hess: People break down into two groups when the experience something lucky. Group number one sees it as more than luck, more than coincidence. They see it as a sign, evidence, that there is someone up there, watching out for them. Group number two sees it as just pure luck. Just a happy turn of chance. I'm sure the people in Group number two are looking at those fourteen lights in a very su ious way. For them, the situation isn't fifty-fifty. Could be bad, could be good. But deep down, they feel that whatever happens, they're on their own. And that fills them with fear. Yeah, there are those people. But there's a whole lot of people in the Group number one. When they see those fourteen lights, they're looking at a miracle. And deep down, they feel that what ever is going to happen, there will be someone there to help them. And that fills them with hope. See what you have to ask yourself is what kind of person are you? Are you the kind that sees signs, sees miracles? Or do you believe that people just get lucky? Or, look at the question this way: Is it possible that there are no coincidences?
I only know a few things to be true for myself. One, we all want to believe. Not specifically in the bible or god, but to believe in something. Doesn't matter who you are, we all want to. Something greater than ourselves, our every day life. Something that makes sense. Two, we all want to love, or be loved. Everyone.
"Confound" is a big word?
Big enough to inspire a trip to the dictionary??
Since when?
You did it again, with "inspire"!
I completely disagree about Mexican food in Mexico. I've yet to find a place in the US that can make al pastor correctly, but you go to Tijuana just south of the border and on seemingly every street corner there's a guy slow cooking it to perfection. By far the best enchiladas I've ever had were at a place in Mexico also.
Oh yea! Did you have the kind with the little fried potatoes on top?![]()
Yes, you are right, it was a religious ins ution that turned into a legal one. However, the broader point is that our governments largely refuse to give gay people the legal recognition that marriage en les heteros to, and that is what most of them are fighting for as I understand it. Concede the same legality as marriage and hold the ceremony in a place other than a church, and I reckon most gay people would take that.
There's a lot more to salad than lettuce!
That China comment is insane. So a government which is actively committing genocide on minorities (Tibet, Falun Gong) and supports widespread abuse of child labour in Africa (which equals lots of dead children), not to mention rampant media censorship that would make Orwell's Big Brother proud, and they are doing a better job than in the US? Pulease...
Wow, he never told me that. In that case, I retract my comment(although I have no idea how anyone who comes here for more than a month would not want to stay for life...
).
Indeed. Unless you exercise and get sweaty, a shower every two days is fine. In general, westerners are obsessed with cleanliness to the point of absurdity.
The Bible condemns a lot of things that people do who still get married in a church. Are you suggesting that everyone be screened for all those things so that the marriages will all then be "proper." Only then would your stance be credible.
"You have heard the commandment, 'You shall not commit adultery.' What I say to you is: anyone who looks lustfully at a woman has already committed adultery with her in his thoughts."
The issue I have is why it is that so many people are obsessed with this one sin. Jesus saved His harshest condemnation not for the weak and sinful, but for the self-righteous.
LMAO @ Ploto's favorite team.
Sorry, back to the discussion.
Sadly, I agree. Which makes it an upopular opinion in the minority.

Fried Okra is not as good as most people make it out to be.
Just to toss my .02 into the religious commentary...
Atheism in itself is pretty stupid...because basically what you are saying is that if there is no higher power...we are it. We are the highest form of life in existence...
Sorry folks...
I consider that to be one of the stupidest assumptions a human being can possibly make. I mean take a look at everything...there's always something bigger.
At our most primitive state when instinct was what ruled us, we instinctively understood there was somethign greater, in fact, you could say that's when we stopped being primitive man and started being modern man...because as long as we have been modern man, we have believed in something higher...before we were modern man, we believed in something higher...and there is plenty of historical evidence to bear this out.
I instinctively know there is something greater than us...I just do....as did the first modern man.
And it is a scientific fact that energy cannot be destroyed, it only changes forms, and we folks, we are energy.
As for the Judeo Christian philopsophy...
Take a look at the 10 commandments, and try not to look at them as something that if you don't live by them, some old man is going to strike you down...
Take a look at them for what they are, guidelines for building a society....
Intelligently written ones at that.
Take a look at them, and forget about the spiritual aspects, and just look at them as advice, not absolutes...they are damn good advice for those seeking a peacful existence, within themselves and with others.
Pretty much if you don't live by them, and you are a modern human being and not a primitive animalike throwback devoid of empathy or higher thinking...you will find misery and suffering in this life...you won't have to wait until the afterlife.
If you worship some visible higher power, well there is nothing visible that is higther than us that we know of yet...so you will be worshipping something, following something, that takes us back to a more primitive state...
If you worship an idol or image...you are not worshipping something higher, but somethign man made. Or again, something in visible existence which is not higher than us
If you lie no one is going to trust you.
Envy is one of the most miserable feelings a human being can have. It's never a good feeling.
Adultrey is going to cause people pain, and when people are in pain, they usually respond by inflicing more pain.
Etc.
And those are basically the rules of every succesful religion...some of them focus more on nature...but it's basically the same thing in every religion.
There's nothing in there about marriage or having a good time...nothing about the lengths of women's skirts, or sexuality...nothign about smoking pot...
Just rules to live by, at the very least. The problem arises when people start using them for their own gain at the direct expense of others.
Religion like anything else, can be manipulated for bad ends, but the idea behind it is a good one for mankind. It's when morons start interpreting it and using it as a means of coercion that it becomes something bad...

FWIW...I agree with Extra Stout btw...evolution and christianity are not competing theories...and while I admit there are more than a few christians that feel they are...what's truly amazing is number of so called scientific thinkers that feel they are. Same dumbasses...just different sides of the fence.

Unless we give up the notion of powering the world (and it's transportation methods) with fossil fuels, this planet is doomed.
English needs to be the official language of the US.
This nation needs to start teaching its children what it means to be an American, or again, this country is doomed.
The concept of the "anchor baby" needs to be abolished.
All that being said, the US needs to develop a hybrid resident program for illegals that lets them live and work here. Way too much money is wasted chasing these people who (for the most part) just want to work. This could be a plan where these people get resident cards, can stay and not be afraid of arrest and deportation, and can get jobs without fear of repercussion. As a way to alleviate costs of car insurance and healthcare, they will pay into the medicare system as well as a mandated car insurance plan.
The wire transfer of money to Mexico should be heavily taxed. If you earn it here, you spend it here.
American companies with foreign workers should have to pay social security taxes on those headcounts, since each one of them represents an American worker who lost a job.
I'll think of more later, I'm sure.![]()
whott is intelligent.
Indian Food is good.
Real Mexican indigenous food trumps Tex Mex and is one of the healthiest foods around.
Mozart is the best icon in music. his last mass atest to his greatness.
Bekind Rewind is the worst movie of all time, Mos Def should stick to rapping.
If evolution is correct, than some races are superior to others on intelligence. I don't see any problems in this if it were actually true.
Austin is not the live music capital of the world.
MJ is overrated.

Yet again someone puts words in my mouth. Has to do with my point, uhgain.
Careless what issue you have with that commandment. Moving along...
I agree. Governments are stupid like that. It's just my own opinion reflects in 3 gays friends of mine, and every gay person I have ever had the discussion with. Not that I make it a point to.
Prove it.
Eh I'm sorry you wasted your time with the reply, as some others have. But I was just being sarcastic, and dissing the American government. Didn't literally mean that.
Jews need to realize their king is never coming. They already killed that king, all because he didn't come on a gold chariot from the heavens. He came in sack cloth and ash.
I bet when the anti-Christ comes, Jews will think their king has finally come and they will be the first ones fooled. "Gods" people, first one out the door.
Middle east needs to leave the Jews alone. It's their land, off and go make more car bombs assholes.
The US Government in my opinion keeps trying to settle the peace between the Paki's and Jews because they in fact, believe the Jews are Gods people and know no one is to go against them for that reason. So the whole taking church and God out of state and government is hilarious, when it seems they fear the Jews being ran over.
In 10 years carbon credits will be worth more than the US dollar. (sarcasm)
Black people that don't shower, smell like ass. Literally, poop. White people that don't shower smell like mildew. Literally, moldy goop.
