CoJo had a real-plus minus of +0.88, 25th among PG's in the NBA. McCallum, by contrast, was -4.43, 4th worst in the entire league.

If our goal is to win now we would've been better off signing Miller (-1.62, ranked 44th) or Nelson (-2.86, ranked 62nd) for the minimum. Doing so would've allowed us to preserve cap space while not surrendering any assets.
Not that the numbers are wrong, but a few points:

    1) There is no cap space worth preserving now - w/ the jump in the cap it's all good
    2) Spurs didn't give up assets, they gave up what appears to be 1 2nd rounder
    3) While your numbers are correct - Spurs taking an educated guess that a better system will result in better numbers.

Nelson/Miller played w/ LEGIT starters meanwhile McCallum was playing alongside scrubs. Of course his +/- is going to suffer if he's playing w/ inferior players.

Looks like McCallum will be rocking Marco's old #3. Hopefully he has the same cojones in big game situations as the Italian Stallion, tbh.

Miller wouldnt have provided spacing and is so old he would be a liability in defense like Marco without the shooting. Nelson wanted to be a starter for a contender.

I can't take any plus/minus stats seriously that involve bit players on a team as dysfunctional as last season's Kings, tbh.

This teams ceiling just keeps climbing. Wouldn't say Rays ceiling in a bubble is better than Cory's but like Timvp said - fit might be better. Hole filled with best of ability.

A back-up point guard talent that will basically be a 3rd stringer with the Spurs, good trade IMHO. No let's get that back-up center and 3rd stringer wing (Jeff Whitey and Wayne Ellington)!

The Spurs just replaced a 7 million a year player with a 800k a year player. That there's any comparison between them shows what a good deal this is.

High basketball iq guys, tough and hungry... La played with a torn ligament for 3 months or something right, and David West is a known a quan y... RM is coaches son and built like a pit, must feel elated to come to place with plenty of sunshine to blossom.

I have a gut feeling this team will gel quick.... The Spurs really needed this precise type of influx to be reinvigorated.

Real-plus minus, by definition, was designed to isolate the impact of the individual player, regardless of his teammates on the floor.

Why are we wasting our time signing 3rd string PGs.

I say we semi-blow up the team, trade off Splitter, Belli, Cojo and go after an All-star like LMA or West, why not both? One can only dream. message me when we do something big like this.

I don't think Vlade and that owner know what they're doing at all so it's nice to get in on the action while the getting is good. A legit NBA player who is only 24 with untapped upside for a future second round pick that will likely be in the 50s? Uh, yeah, this was a no-brainer of a deal.
