The Greek commentator said that the Lakers are going to offer a contract to Papaloukas. Laker scouter(s) were watching the games for quite awhile.
J'ai la balle means I got the ball?
That's funny![]()

They could have drafted Fran Vazquez this year but they took Bynum instead at #10. Orlando got Vazquez at #11. Either one of them would not really help them this year but Vasquez is the more basketball-mature player. LA took Bynum and Turiaf and could have done much better.
Papaloukas was awesome in Eurobasket but he's only 6'6-1/2 or 6'7" (200cm) and the Lakers need a bigman more. Vazquez is a solid 6'10" and very skilled.

Turiaf, any news on how he's doing?
I don't know about Turiaf.
On another subject, I'm not sure if it was posted elsewhere but in the Lithuania win over Slovenia, Rasho had 2 points and 2 reb. in 10 minutes, while Javtokas led Lith. in scoring with 22 points, 5 reb. in 27 minutes.
Rasho has a brain and their team played to avoid injuries.
It makes sense to play it safe. I was reporting stats. Captain Rasho had a tough series, though and I'm sure he's disappointed.
Rasho had two double doubles in five games, lost only to the silver medalists, and helped earn Slovenia it's first spot ever in the W.C.
He really ought to be at least a little bit pleased.
They lost to Germany and Lithuania, right Angel?
You sure that his statement has validity? I am looking on LG.net and there is no mention of the Lakers interest in Papaloukas?
Yes. I forgot about Lithuania.
Okey, let me give you some help there, angel.
Slovenia has beaten all but the reigning European champion and the new silver medalist. Not just that, Slovenia has been the only one who has beaten the new European champion and was second only to Greece on wins over France who won the bronze. I think we should be satisfied. And still...winning a medal would be sweet.
History told us, that we cannot be better then 10th place. Now the stakes are higher.
I posted the following on Slovenian National Team thread:
You can see that Rasho played only for 10 minutes so Brezec could get some rest. Now, what would Pop say if Rasho got injured in a meaningless game? After the game Slokar said the guys were just trying to avoid any injuries today because it would be extremely stupid if anyone would get hurt in a game that doesn't really count. So I guess the Javtokas - Rasho comparison doesn't really show anything. Besides...I heard that Javtokas hasn't signed with any club for the upcoming season yet, so he probably tried to put up some good stats today.
Thanks Z!
You and Kob know what is up! = )
The allstar five in this eurobasket 2005!!
Congratulations boris!
I wonder who the center is in this lineupWe've got 4 guards and one PF.

By reading your post, it's like Slovenia should be considered as good as the European champion because they beated them in the first round?
Beat a good team doesn't mean that you are better or equal, you need to be good in important games that's all!
If a bad team beats San Antonio in the regular season it doesn't mean that this team is as good as the current champions, they need to beat them during the playoffs series to pretend to be better or equal.
Who gives a if the Suns had a better record than ours in the regular season as long as we kicked their ass in the playoffs?!
You guys are just trippin' too much about your slovenian team!!![]()
No one is trippin.
Okay so maybe the Slovenian Team was for a bit after their party the other night.![]()

We're just saying that Slovenia is an up and coming team, so watch out world!
I couldn't agree more with you and I'm slovenian.
Yeah, I agree with that. Slovenia wasn't a real compe or in the past for the European Championship, but with young talents such as Beno or Brezec you can cause trouble to other teams for the next WC!![]()
I'm just tired of listening some dudes saying that Slovenia is "sooo good", your team is getting better no doubt, but you can't pretend to be the best in Europe yet.
And I think that Greece winning the E.C. was a steal like what they did with the Soccer E.C. 2 years go!
No one would have put a penny on Greece to be the champs!
Serbia, Lithuania and Spain were the clear favorites!
I don't expect Greece to repeat.
Single elimination tournaments get real interesting because of the luck ( for lack of a better word) factor involved.
An established great team just needs to have one bad night and everything can change.
Yep, but you can't compare a 1st round game and a single elimination game (quarter, semi, finals).
You have to be good when it's important, don't matter who beated who during non-elimination games..
It's in these crucial games that you can see the players and the team's limits, that's those that can elevate their games that are the Champs by the end!
The best teams this year = ) won, no question.
I dont think so
How would you have had the results turn out?
