Is that something he wrote or is that from what he said in the interview?

    That's something he wrote separately.

I saw the interview but can somebody post it up again? A friend of mine would like to hear it.

Interview is alright, but too much butt kissing questions..."How does it feel to be totally awesome?" I'd love to hear him interviewed by a Dan Patrick or someone like that who would ask probing questions. I thought Tim was pretty talkative, though, and shared some insights instead of sucking up the butt kissing.

It's probably both. How fun is it to play when you're in pain and when you can't make easy shots due to your injuries? Sure hope it's something like that. Would sort of taint him for me if he was faking the excitement he showed for his teammates.
Pretty sure he meant it wasn't fun for him, meaning the personal enjoyment out of his own play, not his teammates or their successes. That last half of the season and postseason was probably really difficult with his knees literally falling apart. For a guy that was used to playing at high or reasonable high level to be consistently outplayed by lesser talents nightly, while dragging around (while in possible pain) two bad knees, I could see how the fun and enjoyment was gone.

Interviewer - "are you gonna stay retired"

TD - "I'm pretty sure I'm going to stay retired" "I can probably still play"

"I stopped enjoying it at times"

    "It wasn't fun anymore"

    WOW
I wonder if those early playoff exits the last 2 years contributed to that.

Both Duncan and Kobe can still play in the NBA next season, they have it in them. I don't know about Kobe, but this confirms my take that Duncan is retiring because it's not fun for him anymore. Which sucks for the fans, because he just confirmed he can still play another season. He's just sick of the NBA grind and wants to just enjoy his life.

I don't think he could tbh I just think he didn't want to mention how much his knees bothered him. I remember during the interview when his friend starting talking about his great Finals performances in '99 and '03 Tim then laughed and said something like this "Those were the good old days when I had good knees. When the knees were working."

He looked fine in his final game vs OKC. Of course you could have a point there, Tim might not want to mention his knees as the reason but he looked ok vs OKC. Of course having the knee issue flare up every now and than could have taken it's toll, but he can still play in the NBA I think next season if he really wanted to make a comeback after the all-star break. probably not happening though, get used to Spurs basketball without #21 on the roster.

This makes me think KD going to GSW played a factor IMO. If Spurs were able to land KD I think he comes back. I honestly don't blame him if that's the case. Duncan was ineffective going up against the great teams in the West OKC/GSW. He'd pretty much just be a regular season body but when it comes down to post season or match ups I dunno where Duncan fits. I've heard Tim say it himself playing in the playoffs and contend made the regular season grind worth it..with that being a cloudy subject maybe just took everything out if it for him

Idk, he's such a compe or I find it hard to believe the Durant move influenced his decision to do what he loves (d) to do

Timmy: "As of right now, yea, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna stay retired." And added, "I can probably still play."

    Do I sense a comeback?
That translates to I'm coming back in March or April

I couldn't watch all of it. The kept butting in and his friend talked too much. I watched about 25% of it. Not a good interview. It's not like Tim said something you didn't know. Get over it.

Did you know he doesn't have an accent because his parents wanted him to speak "proper" english?

Of course. He didn't say anything we didn't already know:

    "I don't care"
"I didn't know people thought of me that way"
    "It's been an unbelievable journey"

    etc..

    He didn't say

"When Pop sat me in the crucial minutes of game 6 he lost me"
"I wish David would leave me alone"
"Shut up Vanessa, it's not your home"
    "Shut the ing dog up"
    "Stop talking about yourself, asshole"
"No I won't live in San Antonio, I ing hate that place"
"Tony Parker can suck my balls"
"Steve didn't say I was a better player than Mike"
    "Tiago Spitter is a scrub"
"Manu cost us our season in 2006"
"Manu cost us our season in 2013"

    etc...

Call me when he says something someone on here couldn't have predicted.

Here's a portion of it. The first 20-25 mins weren't caught on video, but the full audio is probably available somewhere.

I think landing KD would have made him play another season.
I don't think KD going to the Dubs made a difference e.g. if he had gone to Boston.

I think his knee not working was the determining factor. Duncan would have played if he'd been physically able.

I imagine the "it wasn't as much fun", was in reference to his one previously decent knee being shot and to a lesser extent, the extent to which his role was reduced.

I don't care how team oriented one is and it's not even so much the fact that he's an all time great. It's the fact that, as recently as the prior season, he had a far more significant role.
