No. They hired him knowing damn well what they were getting from him: A Cowboys homer. Plus, I think they wanted to do something different than Eric Gray was doing. Biggest difference though is that even though Eric was a HUGE Mavs homer too, he didn't try to ACT like a Spurs fan. But at least Vex was there to represent Spurs homer. Really, neither one of these guys are Spurs homer. Which begs the question: Why does Ticket keep hiring guys from Dallas??

We get 4 Hours of the Cowboys and professional Football every afternoon in San Antonio and we don't even have an NFL team. I am sure that if we did they would be seen as a secondary thought after the Cowboys, because for a mofo who hates the Cowboys (or so he says), Mike Taylor, sure loves to talk about them. We need a change and we need it fast, we need a local radio show that caters to the local professional sports. Not a homer from Dallas who swings with whatever he can get away with and does.
I just go an email from Jim Bob taking offense to what I said about hiring Dallas guys. First JB, I was talking about Taylor: O!!! And here's what he put at the tail end of the email:

Uh, huh. Ratings eh? Well, Spurs fans have the highest rated TV viewership in the league based on how many households within S.A. watch. I don't think one should underestimate how much the ravenous townies like to talk or hear about this team. Maybe Mike is that distant to what the majority of listeners truly want. Or maybe his Spurs commentary is so remarkably weak that even the Spurs fan base are changing the station rather than listen to that idiot. And how does the ratings dip in the summer equal out into more Big-D coverage versus Spurs? The Spurs played just as many league games this summer as the Boys...None! Dallas homer in S.A.? Ditch his ass.
