Where did you learn this from?
I've seen this news on WR Cayleb Jones throughout the day from three different UT sources. And I hate to talk about a kid's Facebook updates (sadly this is the world we live in), but supposedly his latest talks about "committing soon." Be ready for it.

Not sure how accurate the reports are but I'm hearing that Malcolm Brown will now not be making the trip to Austin for its Junior Day lol? Maybe you have something on this, i'm not sure.
I read this morning that there was a possibility of him skipping UT's second Junior Day in favor of a track meet, but nothing definitive has come out yet. I'd imagine that kind of news will come out tomorrow if he's decided against visiting Austin. As far as I know, everything is still a go.

To me it just looks like Brown favors A&M while Cole favors UT. I know the plan for all these kids is to go to college together but it doesn't always work out that way. I am not totally sold that they are a "package" deal. I could see a scenario where we ultimately get Brown while you guys end up with Cole.
The good news for UT fans is neither guy committed tonight while in College Station. I'd love it if these guys weren't a package deal, but I still feel they'll go to the same school. FWIW, Gerry Hamilton stated today that he's heard multiple times from folks at Brenham HS that "wherever Cole goes, Brown will follow." However, Hamilton is one guy that doesn't give UT much of a chance with either prospect.

Interesting. I hope that's not the case They both seemed to enjoy themselves at the basketball game tonight though. Students even made signs for the guys and Brown and Cole seemed to think that was neat. From the looks of it, I bet they drag this process out for another month.

Didn't mention them by name of course (NCAA rules), but hopefully they enjoyed themselves. Supposedly they're not committing anywhere until next month.

*Quick update on LB Peter Jinkens of Dallas Skyline...the word is right now that he no longer has a "committable" offer from Texas A&M. All that means is the Aggies are bascially telling him they're full at the LB position as they anticipate the commitment of LB Tim Cole of Brenham (could end up being a risky move). It's uncertain whether or not he's actually been told this by the A&M staff directly, but I think he sees the writing on the wall and it's another reason why the Longhorns have gained momentum in his recruitment during the past week. He's a domino that I can see falling this weekend in favor of UT.

It's never too early to talk about the next class. Here are some offensive studs to familiarize yourself with for 2013. The first two may play basketball on the next level:

QB, Tyrone Swoopes, Whitewright (6-5, 220)

*He's the nephew of former WNBA star, Sheryl Swoopes. He had 2,900+ all-purpose yards as a sop re.

WR, Derrick Griffin, Rosenberg Terry (6-6, 215)

RB, LaQuintas Wallace, Tyler Lee (5-11, 185)

Add this guy to the list for the second Junior Day:

ATH, Corey Thompson, Fort Bend Elkins (6-2, 193)
    http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footbal...Thompson-94381

*Thompson is an Texas A&M legacy and currently favors the Ags. He also just witnessed his teammate, C Mike Matthews, commit to the Aggies yesterday. I'd like to see the Longhorns offer him as a safety prospect this weekend. If they don't, they'll essentially be gift-wrapping him for the Ags. It may not matter either way.

Here's the latest from Recruitocosm with some interesting scenarios to watch over the weekend. Some of the storylines I'm interested in (in no particular order):

    http://recruitocosm.fantake.com/2011...-day-2-update/

*Does DT Paul Boyette, Jr. of Humble finally get his coveted scholarship offer? Or does UT continue to slow-play him? I think he's probably the most underrated prospect on the board right now as his offer list is nothing to sneeze at. Texas needs big men on the defensive line...and now! Lock him up, Mack.

*ATH Kendall Sanders of Athens is apparently bringing his parents and possibly some other family members along with him to Austin this weekend. He sounds like a kid that's begging for UT (his favorite school) to give him a reason to switch his commitment and prove that he made a premature move. He wants to play WR instead of DB...offer him as an ATH and close the deal.

*DE Caleb Bluiett of Beaumont West Brook has already stated he'll commit to UT when/if he's offered. However, you have a more talented prospect in DE Devonte Fields of Arlington Martin that will be in town as well. Fields was considered to be an OU lean before visiting Norman, but without an offer from the Sooners the Longhorns might be the leader in his recruitment. Do you offer one over the other? Or do you offer both?

*The Brenham boys...that's all I have to say about that.

I almost forgot to mention that spring practice started today. There will be no open practices to the public except for the annual Orange/White Spring Game on Sunday, April 3rd.

Manny Diaz has asked DE Hassan Ridgeway of Mansfield to attend the second UT Junior Day, so he will be in Austin this weekend. Can't hurt to have some Texas commitments around to help sell the other recruits on what UT has to offer. QB Connor Brewer of Scottsdale, Arizona is another guy that will be a big recruiter for Texas on Saturday as he will be in attendance as well.

Thanks, Pop. There are some good pictures in there. Darius White and Case McCoy have really bulked up. The QB situation has to be the most intriguing storyline for spring ball. I read that David Ash really pushed the older guys today. I expect at least one QB to transfer by fall.

Revisiting the news about WR Cayleb Jones from earlier in the week...he stated today that he'll be on campus this weekend for the second UT Junior Day. That jives with the idea of him committing soon and he'll have the opportunity to meet QB Connor Brewer. It'll be hard for him to not pull the trigger on Saturday.

UT will be hosting an early visitor today in CB Bryson Echols of DeSoto. Generally a prospect coming in early would indicate that he's going to receive an official offer. We'll see what happens. I believe it might be due to the fact that he has a track meet on Saturday and wouldn't be able to attend otherwise. Echols has the advantage of being one of the few pure corners in the state for the class of 2012.

Some more cool quotes from QB Connor Brewer of Scottsdale, Arizona:

“I can’t wait to meet up with all coaches again, see how spring practice goes, see how coach (Bryan) Harsin is going to coach up the quarterbacks,” Brewer said. “Another big part is the recruits there. It’s going to be a good time for me to tell them why I like Texas so much, why I chose them. Hopefully they can relate to that and maybe we can get a couple of those guys to join us.”

“I talk to Cayleb Jones, Mario Edwards, Orlando Thomas, Kennedy Estelle, Michael Starts, Alex De La Torre … kids I know Texas is very interested in,” Brewer said. “I’m not pressuring them, I’m just talking to them as a kid, just trying to get to know guys I could be playing with in the future.”

“I’m coming in to help Texas any way I can. If they need me to redshirt, that’s what I’ll do,” Brewer said. “If they need me to play, I’m here. I’ll work as hard as I can to progress myself to be the starting quarterback at Texas. I don’t know how long it will take, hopefully sooner rather than later."

“I don’t really care for any other schools and I’m not going to care,” Brewer said. “Texas is where I want to be.”

*Brewer also mentioned that WR Cayleb Jones is the recruit that he speaks with the most. I believe this weekend will be the first time they'll have the opportunity to speak in person. Pretty encouraging development.

Here's the final list for the second UT Junior Day tomorrow. The cool thing about this one is the recruits will actually get to see the team practice. They'll have the opportunity to get a sneak peek at what Bryan Harsin, Manny Diaz and others bring to the table. There's also going to be some prospects in town who are already committed to Texas that will help with the recruiting process. Don't be surprised to see an unannounced visitor or two. Always seems to happen.

It's just been reported that CB Bryson Echols of DeSoto is headed back home with an offer in hand. He's not made a decision but said he'd make one "soon." Looks like he wants to discuss things with his family and coach tonight before committing. I believe he'll be a Longhorn before the end of the weekend.

Looks like ATH Corey Coleman of Richardson Pearce has decided against making a trip to Austin this weekend for one reason or another. Rumors also going around that ATH Kendall Sanders of Athens is having second thoughts and may not be in attendance tomorrow. I'll leave Sanders on the list since there's no confirmation on him either way.

    DMX7-

I haven't found anything yet. I'm not sure how it's going to work. The media is obviously allowed to take pictures but I'm not sure what the rules are on actual video footage. I'll post anything I come across. The annual Orange/White Spring Game will be televised on Sunday, April 3rd. I believe ESPN is picking it up this year.
