Bottom line....
I was in high school in the 60's, as everyone knows the most dramatic change from one decade to another. The music was amazing, all those legendary bands. But I started out listening to Hank Williams and country music. After HS I started really geting into history of things, that's when I found them old blues.
Prior to 1979 and The Clash I 'd been listening to all that great stuff from all those legendary rockers, country, bluesmen. Now what chance does a band as inept as The Clash going to stand? Al those vocals, lyrics guitar playing. There was no attraction there for me, it was very obvious the band was bad. The reason being I'd spent 20 years or so listening to far better stuff. , Ray Charles and Frank Sinatra on a whole different level than...The Clash.
If you're some kid with anti-establishment thoughts and ideas and really don't care about talent sure,...The Clash....would work. But you soon out grow that.
If you like the band I'm guessing you hadn't heard that much stuff before them, well I had.
There's no point selling you on a band you have no intention of liking.... not to mention, as a hip-hop head, I really don't care that much about The Clash....
