Every time there’s another vote it’s clear McCarthy just has no idea what his path to 218 looks like. He’s basically hoping for divine intervention at this point.going again
i mean, even if he strikes a deal with the dems to have some abstain or whatever, how does he plan on running the house? he's going to need 218 republicans to hold the line and he's clearly not going to have the support of ~20 people when push comes to shove

as much as we laugh about him not caring about governing, the 20 people he's opposing are exactly the type of people who only care about getting more tucker carlson segments than doing anything remotely related to legislation. he's not going to wear them out. this is probably the only time these people are having fun in the capitol and not just scrolling through twitter
The difference between McCarthy and the 20 MAGA patriots voting against him is minimal imo

i actually like ro khanna quite a bit. was really disappointed when he joined in on that ukraine letter (then defended it).
Gaetz and the uber Trump crew is easier to run against in 2024.
One of the rules the nut cases want to have added is that 1 single member has the power to call a snap vote and remove the speaker if they so choose.

not really McCarthy wants power for power's sake, he whipped for boehner on the fiscal cliff bill that got him booted, but when he had to votes then he stabbed boehner in the back and voted against it. So he's smart enough not to over the country when it comes down to it. But the 20 MAGAs would definitely blow it all up just because they can. That being said hopefully the moderates got with him and said "you give the guys anything we want a cut as well"
