Let me ask you first, what stat do you want to use to evaluate a player? Then I'll crush your idea of parker been remotely useful this year. Just let me know.
not a Parker apologist, but if you're going to focus on just one stat...how come Kawhi has a worse +/- in almost the same amount of minutes? Team worst, to be exact. Also who was Leonard supposed to guard? Barnes? Re ? Paul?

Parker clearly wasn't playing well in the first, but Pop still plays him 11 minutes. Then he subs Patty on and immediately subs him off in favour of Cojo. Then decides that Cojo wasn't playing well and subs in Patty as the back up in the second half. Mills and Cojo are being punished for Parker's subpar play.
(1) I didn't say he was remotely useful this year, but thanks for letting us know the agenda, if it hasn't been painfully obvious already. I just asked a question. Could use an answer instead of a defensive, butthurt retort.
(2) It's "has been", not "been"
(3) As regards point #2 I guess you've been too busy tracking Parker's stats to learn any real English at all.
(4) You haven't explained Leonard's worse +/- in this particular game, by the way. It's a fair question yes?
First of all, you can get rid of the comma between agenda and if. You don't need a pause there. Secondly, I can spell and write freely as I want and I could give zero s. Thirdly, I don't put much stock in plusminus. I actually think it's a laughable statistic. Very misleading. Ask anyone on these boards and they'll tell you the same about my opinion. Did you watch the game at all? That'll explain 100% of it.
Supreme, rob..you guys may be right about Parker..but don't even pretend your ass wouldn't be a little nervous starting cory or patty in the finals
I think most people know you can't really make proper assessments off of +/- for 1 game. Kawhi played a lot more minutes with the bench (Bonner, Diaw, Manu, Patty, Cojo) than the other starters did and the bench didn't have a good night.
It's not fair to kawhi that the players mailed it in when he was on the floor. Bad luck. Had nothing to do with him.
Aw man we're going round in circles here. You could just say you don't know, it's totally fine. I mean if you could lay out every facet of a bad season from Tony Parker surely you can answer one question about this particular game; telling me to watch the game is a lazy answer if you have the time to "crush [my] idea of Parker being remotely useful this season", a premise I didn't even bring up in the first place, because it's been a bad season for Parker. I've even proposed a Parker-Teague trade before, if things don't work out. Just this game, mate, we're not talking about comparing their games, their stats, or any other detail where Leonard edges Parker. Just needed an explanation is all, it's quite odd. I'm well aware RAPM and PER heavily side in favor of Leonard here, but how can the team's top scorer (and best defender) have a net negative on this particular game?
My 'error' was an 'error' in emphasis, yours was on tense. Nice try though bro.
It isn't fair to look at anyone's +/- for 1 game, tonight the bench didn't bring the spark it usually does. It happens. The problem is when it starts becoming a trend and afaik Kawhi has the 2nd best +/- on the team (I think Patty is #1 and Manu is #3).
Kawhi did have a negative +/-. Does that mean he had a negative impact on the actual game? He was the best player on the spurs if you actually watched the game. That's why I asked you. The players around kawhi just played poorly when he was there. The L was on his teammates.
ps no one gives a about spelling. Am I being graded here?
please explain that to firekid here.
dabom could have easily answered this way and discussion could have ended right there, but instead we got an ad hominem with snark that fails so much and "it's not fair to Kawhi". This is irksome. There are Spurs fans and there are player fans, and the latter just keep on looking for people to blame.
you could have, but you didn't cause you're dumb
Don't need to trade him, just bench him and play him 15 minutes. Perhaps after 2 months he'll be ready and not play like a . Right now he's hurting the team.
Still like the Kings idea of Collison, Williams and a first-round swap. Would give the Spurs room to sign Cory and have a max slot open while also giving them a young PG and a lottery pick. Too good to be true, but I think the Kings would consider it.
He had already gone over it earlier in the thread with TGY, he was probably just annoyed at having to go over it again. Or maybe he thought you would be like TGY and not understand that using one game to judge +/- isn't very smart... who knows?
That's a good idea, tbh.

Nah mate, I wanted to see if he can argue without being overly emotional about Parker's bad season, because not every Spurs fan in fact is a 'mainstream big three fan' or whatever contrarians like to call them. I'm well aware Parker's having the worst season so far, and it's obvious from his body language and advanced statistics (50+ among all PGs in RAPM, PER around the 15s). The fact he couldn't answer my question without senseless snark is the real problem. I have no qualms saying Kawhi Leonard is the best player, but his 'underground' fans are...how do I say this properly...particularly ish about it (how hard is it to type "you can't judge a player with just one game"; took him three replies and help from another poster). Then there's the other flaw: he used just one facet of the game to argue which of them is the better player, an apples and oranges comparison, and on just one statistic (PTS, if you've been reading so far). If arguing on just +/- is dumb, isn't arguing on the arena of points scored just as dumb too?. There just really is no ground for sensible discussion here and it's probably going to be that way.
Tim + Tony + Manu = 11 pts in 78 minutes.
Spurs offense has been for weeks now.
I really don't give a whit if Parker gets traded.
My only question is, who is gonna get blamed for all the teams' woes after that? Because the FACT is, that Tony is not the only problem this year, and getting rid of him would NOT lead us to the promised land.
You really do like Williams.
Not this year. He's for salary ballast. Would much rather have Thompson for on-court value.
