Absolutely, cancer sucks. Many of us have been there, in Pop's shoes in some way. This hits home hard. I've criticized Pop a lot, called him out. Honestly what the do I know though about coaching on a professional level. I'm willing to bet the majority of us are armchair GMs/coaches and have nowhere near the expertise of a battle-hardened Yoda like Pop.
To think that he coached throughout the past three years with this hanging over his head while his wife received rounds of chemo/radiation treatment, probably suffering debilitating side-effects of it, is something that is admirable on it's own level. If oncologists told Erin and Pop of a prognosis leading to an anticipated unfavorable time-range coinciding with the recent weeks/days, I cannot imagine how rough it has been these last few weeks...knowing the inevitable to come.
You probably won't read this Pop, but thank you for coaching and leading this team.![]()
