Good quotes from RB Johnathan Gray after his visit for the Tech game:

“I was excited to see that a lot of young players are helping the Longhorns win games,” Gray said. “That lets me know that the future for us is going to be great. I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

“Getting a chance to see Joe Bergeron and Fozzy run hard behind the offensive line was great. In order for us to compete for Big 12 and National Championships, we have to be physical in the trenches,” he said

There's a lot of old recruiting news being rehashed this morning, but there are two things of interest per Hook 'Em 24/7:

**Texas may be the main compe ion with LSU for DE Torshiro Davis' signature. Rumor is Alabama has some other prospects ahead of Davis on their recruiting board right now and he's not getting as much attention as others. Good opportunity for the UT staff to assure him that he's a priority of theirs and he's still scheduled to make his official to Austin for banquet weekend on December 9th and 10th.

**Talks are supposedy serious enough that we can put ATH Kendall Sanders of Athens back on UT's recruiting radar. What's interesting is Hook 'Em 24/7 believes Sanders could be a priority to receive an offer over others if a spot opens up. It's kind of confusing figuring out exactly what they're alluding to since TWO spots just opened up and there are three guys on the verge of receiving an offer (WR Marcus Johnson, ATH Corey Coleman, ATH Daje Johnson), but hopefully we'll learn more as the season comes to a close.

For those of you who watched DeSoto vs. Longview last Thursday night, you know that OL Curtis Riser sustained an injury. It appeared that he took a hit to his knee and he was limping for the majority of the game, but turns out it's just an ankle sprain. He is questionable for DeSoto's first playoff game on Friday.

Rivals claimed Nelson Agholor from Berkley Prep (Tampa, Fla.) was expected to be at the Gators' matchup against Vanderbilt. Agholor, who is being recruited to play wide receiver by the Gators, has been rumored to have Florida out on top so far.

"Right now I'm being recruited as an athlete, some receiver, some tailback, some defensive back," said Agholor, who took his first and only official visit to Notre Dame on Oct. 7, but has yet to narrow down his choices. "But you know, we'll worry about that later. Each day you just do what you can do."

That guy has had some of the worst luck.

Michael may be more physically gifted, but it seems to me that for whatever reason, the Ags do better when Gray gets 20+ touches a game.

DGB's team won 21-2 last night so their next game will be Monday, 11/7, against an undefeated Union team. We'll see what happens.
My bad on this score. DGB's team won 42-14. We'll see how they do tonight.

Hillcrest beat Union tonight 28-21 so no Mizzou game for DGB. His official to UT on November 19th for the Kansas State game could be in jeopardy if his team keeps winning because that particular Saturday is the semi-final round. However, their third round game is likely going to be against an undefeated Webb City team. The staff may have to try and convince him to come in on banquet weekend instead.

Some quotes from DB Adrian Colbert as he prepares to visit UT:

"They (UT) just pretty much went over a couple things with me, told me they'd be offering me and would be keeping in contact with me," Colbert said. "They said there's no rush about anything. I can just take my time, visit other places and I don't have to make any hasty decisions until I come there on my official visit."

"Texas is not that far behind (Baylor) because I've liked them for a couple years. I made first trip down there my sop re year for Texas Relays. It's a great environment, and that was just from a track athlete's point of view," Colbert said. "Now that I'm really big on football, it could get really crazy. They could go up really high on my list just off that one visit."

"I'm really interested to see that. At state (track and field meet), all the athletes warmed up inside the (football) stadium. I was just amazed. I had never been inside the stadium. I was like, wow, this is awesome. There are so many seats, knowing that Texas always fills up the stands in a game is really cool. I was thinking 'Wow, what would it be like to play here?'"

"Mack Brown sent me a letter. It was one of the coolest letters I've got. I thought it would be a written offer but he said he can't wait to see me when I come down for my visit in December, he hopes I enjoyed my bye week and hopes my shoulder is getting better."

Hook 'Em 24/7 is reporting that UT is currently in talks with one of the top out-of-state prospects in the nation. Considering everything that's going on with Penn State right now, my first guess is DE Noah Spence of Harrisburg, PA. UT needs that speed rusher in this class and he was high on UT before talks went quiet. He said during the summer that he'd visit Austin if he was given an invite. Perfect time to pick things up with him. See his tweet last night:

i would love for it to be spence, i'd certainly rather be battling penn state instead of lsu (torshiro davis) - even before all this recent news hit.

and speed DE is such a critical position and need this class.

Unless it's an offensive tackle, Spence would make the most sense based on needs. However, there's no word yet if the UT staff made contact first or vice versa. Both sides are trying to keep things behind the scenes.
