First cousin to tree huggers.
Despite its deceptively warm-and-fuzzy public image, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has donated over $150,000 to criminal activists -- including those jailed for arson, burglary, and even attempted murder. In 2001, PETA donated $1,500 to the North American Earth Liberation Front, a criminal organization that the FBI classifies as "domestic terrorists." And since 2000, rank-and-file PETA activists have been arrested over 80 times for breaking various laws during PETA protests. Charges included felony obstruction of government property, criminal mischief, assaulting a cabinet official, felony vandalism, performing obscene acts in public, destruction of federal property, and burglary.

fair enough. However, I won't sign it because it's attacking PETA, not going after groups that support criminal activity. I eat meat, and I don't care what PETA says. However, I think it's using selective information to go after one group instead of addressing what it is calling a problem: the donation of money torwards criminal activity.
PETA is the group that supports the criminal activity..
I'm a member... People Eating Tasty Animals. :o)
I understand that, but the pe ion is singling out PETA instead of the behavior. I would advocate attacking the behavior, in other words a pe ion to remove that status to all groups that commit these acts.
You have go to go after them one at a time.
Well, I was #46,763 to sign. I look at it this way: Everyone who lives in a house displaces an animal by using the space the animal would live in. Last I heard, not too many of the members of PETA were giving up their cozy, warm spaces to live in trees or out in clearings.
That did not make much sense, BUT, at least you are in the correct forum.
You feeling ok Manny? Sure you don't wanna throw in a ' in' or a ' ' or something?![]()
Just feels creepy reading a manny post without the four letter words...
Sorry Guru, I'll try to explain more clearly. PETA members live in houses like the rest of us, right? Presumably, some part of the house is made of wood, which means a tree had to be cut down and birds, squirrels, etc lost their homes. Te ally, they are also guilty of cruelty to animals by displacement. I know it's an extreme example, but these are extreme people.
I don't assume that PETA members live in ordinary houses. That aside, displacing animals does not necessarily = cruelty.
You make a silly argument.
PETA's an easy target to get people agitated about. frankly i too could care very little whether a cow or a chicken were treated tenderly before they were killed and ended up on my plate. but of all things facing this country right now PETA kinda ranks low on my list of issues.
I'm thinking there was supposed to be a little sarcasm in there, GoN.![]()
I hate PETA because those hot chicks they paint up and throw in cages always have long hair and always have it strategically placed.
Bas s...
Animals are EQUAL to Human Beings?! Blowing up buildings in the name of animal rights?!
This group is messed up!
And yet the lefties love this group. But, if a pro-life group comes out and says they think HUMAN babys should be protected they are sexist and bigoted!
In the words of KRS-One "What kinda world are we livin' in?"
Once again with the "lefties".
And when a pro-life group calls for woman's right to choose they are called immoral and unreligious and unable to believe in God.
PETA is the epitome of being hypicritical.
