Croatia, Slovenia, Germany and Greece are the ones that I think go through. I think Croatia ends up missing the cut from that group.
Dirk and Kamman are throwing it down for Germany, and Greece seems like they are back to their 05-06 form.
SEMI-FINALS (7/19):
Germany vs. Croatia
Greece vs. Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico pulled a major upset. I still think they will be the last team out. Greece and Germany right now seem to be on another level.
So the 2 winners of the semis are automatically in, and the winner of the consolation game as well, right?

DaDakota do you know if Rockets will keep Brooks if he ask out of his contract like they refuse let Scola leave his contract for PAO? Or will they allow him leave? He has been offer much bigger contract by Israel club Maccabi.

It is illegal for a Fiba team to offer a contract to an existing player in the NBA. I think the tabloids are making stuff up.
By the way, I really want Greece to make it, so I can see my favorite Greek player Spanoulis play in the Olympics.
DD
No is not illegal. There is no rule. Only rule is if player have NBA contract he cannot sign contract with European team unless NBA team release him. So no such rule exist prevent Europe club from offer contract to NBA player under contract.
This why ask if Rockets will let Brooks leave or block him like they do Scola. Is true thing Scola was offer contract by PAO in the 3 years $30 million same exact as Delfino get from Khimki and there is no rule prevent this offer be made. Only rule which prevent Scola from sign with PAO unless Rockets release him. So same rule with Brooks but he is much less important player for Rockets so this why I ask if Rockets will block him from leave for more money also. Of course they would block player like Scola.
Greece will have no trouble make it. This is chance to be best Greek team ever. Many players from team that you know that beat US is gone and replace by much younger and less experience ones. But the new players is much faster and much more athletic.

So, these teams offer ridiculous contracts to make their fans think they are really trying when in reality they know there is no chance to accept it.
Sounds like a marketing ploy to me.
Glad to hear about Greece, is Billy starting?
Below is an interview with V-Span...

Billy is best guard so far in tournament. He lead tournament in steals per game and he is 2nd in tournament in assists per game and he is only play 22 MPG!
Stupid idiot Sam Fisher and JVG "he is not point guard but shooting guard and he can play no defense."
As for contract there is no rule keep player from accept it. Rule is NBA team must let player leave contract. Scola accept offer from PAO. It is Rockets reject buyout and block him.

DD
Germany 96 - Puerto Rico 82
Dirk 32 and 9
Kaman 10 and 12
I know, wierd isnt it. I guess since both team make it to the olympics, whats the point of playing a meaningless game
