Or it could be because some of us, myself included, have read, among other things, The Killing Joke, and A Death In The Family. There *do* exist people who liked the Joker before TDK.
I for one am not. I was arguing this same topic last year against Pee Wee. Joker IMO Is the best villian of all time.

Not only in badassedness, but also in a fight. Pansy superman is too weakminded and dumb, bats would karate chop his ass in half.
It would have been Vader hands down if not for these 5 seconds that completely ruined his street cred -
after that, I would have voted Casper The Friendly Ghost as a better villain.
Regardless of NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Vader still turns good at the end of Episode 6. Doesn't want his son to suc b to the dark side or get hurt and saves him while sacrificing his own life.........not very villinaous material.

I always thought Emperor Palpatine was a better villain than Vader anyway...
At which point he isn't vader any more. he is Anakin again, destroys the emporer, and returns balance to the Galaxy as per his own prophecy.
