1.7 of the 8 Spurs teams coached by Pop rank in the top 40 all time in single season Defensive FG%(the exception is the 96-97 team), including 3 of the top 4 single season marks!

This years team is also on track to be one of the top 20 ever. FAMAZING

2.7 of the 8 Pop coached teams rank in the top 50 in fewest PPG allowed.

This years team is on pace to finish in the top 10(since the inception of the shot clock).

3.Only 3 teams in NBA history have an all time winning PCT of 58% or better...The LA Lakers(620%), The Boston Celtics(597%), and The Spurs(580%).

    4.Only 3 teams in NBA history are at least 363 games over 500% all time...The Lakers(2727-1674), Celtics(2692-1819), and Spurs(1313-951)... !

The Spurs' total may not seem that impressive when compared to the eye popping total of the Lakers and Celtics...until you realize that the Spurs have only been in the NBA since 1977, and the Lakers and Celts have been in the NBA since the late 1940's.

The Hawks, Kings, Warriors, Pistons, Knicks, and 76ers have all been in the NBA 55 years, compared to 28 for the Spurs, and aren't 363 games over 500%!

5.The Spurs are one of only ten franchises to win the NBA le since 1977.

6.The Spurs are one of only 3 franchises to be undefeated in the NBA finals(Bulls, Kings).

7.The Spurs and the Bulls are the only franchises to be undefeated in mutiple trips to the NBA finals.

8.The Spurs are one of only 6 teams that have never won fewer than 20 games in a season(Bucks, Jazz, Knicks!!, Sonics and Pacers).

9.In NBA history, only the Lakers and Celtics have more division les than the Spurs. If the Spurs win the division this year they will tie the Lakers for the most division les since 1977, with 14.

10.The Spurs are on pace to shatter the single season record(17.1 apg) for fewest assists allowed per game.

We didn't meet the Bullets in the NBA Finals, we met them in the Eastern Conference Finals.

I was just going to post that. The Bullets met the Sonics in the finals that year. The Spurs were in the East back then. That was also the year the Spurs beat Dr. J and the Sixers in the playoffs.

undefeated in the sense the Spurs have never lost a Finals, 2 -0, not that they swept the Finals series.

When the Spurs joined the NBA, they were placed in the Central division, with the likes of Detroit, Chicago, Indy and Milwaukee. It's really too bad that they didn't beat Washington in the ECF that year. They could have been either the only team to win the Finals representing each conference, or at least, represent each conference in the Finals. Off the top of my head, I can only think of two other teams switching conferences: The PHI/GS Warriors and the Hornets just this year. I'm sure there were others. Maybe the Jazz, or were the N.O. Jazz already in the West? STL/ATL Hawks? Royals/Kings?

I had forgotten that the Sampson/Hakeem Rockets lost to Boston once in 1986.
edit: The Moses Malone Rockets also made a finals, but lost to, you guessed it: Boston in 1981.

The Rockets also switched conferences the same time as the Spurs.
