Well several years ago my grandma was going to marry this old reverend but he left a note on her door and scurried away never to return like a puss. Anyhow she gave me the ring and said keep it I don't want the money if you sell it. So after having it for 4 years and trying to talk her in to it she won't budge so I wanna go ahead and get rid of it.

It was purchased for $3785 and was appraised in 2004 for $3650. It's honestly such a clean nice looking ring that was worn for only 2 months. No scratches or anything at all! Has the wedding band match. This money could help me get to school and I want to get the most I can for it of course. But I am afraid craigslist will rob me or some crap. And I have never sold anything on there I ever posted. Waste of time really. So what to do? Not pawning it, they'd only give a fraction of its worth of course.

I don't have an eBay account to sell anything. A friend was going to do it for me but realized they charge a load. So I'm sort of depressed. But I really need the money.

And no that is not the original box it came in. My grandma lost it.

Ideas? Help? I'm really in need of it.

Try putting it on Craigslist in various areas around your state or country, newspapers, check with any friends that might want it. You could make an account with Amazon.com and see if you could advertise there and sell it.

Also don't know if it will work, but go to a jewler or store that sells rings/jewlery and see if they will buy it from you. Try to find a place where they will buy antiques/expensive jewlery from people.

Make friends with Kobe Bryant, introduce him to any hot female friends you might have, and in time there will be a market for your goods.

Crap I should have mentioned it was in the Sunday paper twice and I got no calls for it. Maybe cause I put "make an offer." Also craigslist only has Little Rock. So basically our whole state has I'm guessing half the population of SA alone. No friends want it or could afford it haha. Does it cost to make the Amazon thing?

I tried the jewelers thing but couldn't find one place that buys used jewelry.

They charge you when it sells:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...nodeId=1161240

Those are the fees if you think it is worth it.

Thanks for the find but my math says I'd owe them 500 bucks. Not doing that. I tried to find out what eBay would make off me by selling it but couldn't.

    Here is ebays:

I'm too lazy to do the math, but they have an example of what kind of fees' would be deducted.

I guess my best advice would be is to place ads on craigslist in different states and see if anything goes. Sorry.

Gah it's looking bleak. It's really a great ring too.

eBay surprised me. Insertion fee. Final value fee. Why not more? Daily fee. Shipping fee. Pictures fee. Website hosting fee. Fee fee.

It's tough to sell rings with a lot of baggets because most women these days want diamond solitaires.... Your only gonna get less than 1/3 its appraised value on E-bay after fees....I recommend that you go to a jeweler who can reseat the diamonds and trade the ring for something that will impress the future Mrs. Brutalis rather than sacrifice the ring for a few bucks (probably less than $1000)...

I'll be packing too if someone wants to come see it. Heard so many bad stories of people getting beat to a pulp and robbed. Kind of scary. Will have 3 dudes with me for sure for the meeting.

No way charlie. I have gotten offers of more than 1K. I'm not doing eBay either.

When I marry it won't be this ring, some passed down ring. It will be a special ring I pick out for her.

If you've gotten offers of over $1k you should take them....

In Arkansas if you give it to your future spouse at least the ring will stay in the immediate family...

The ring is not a keepsake or some family heirloom (spelling?).

And no. A fool takes his first offers. I am trying to get tips and hints or whatever advice to broaden my spectrum of selling this ring to get more offers.

I actually agree with Dan. The most you will ever get for it is from a jeweler if you trade it in and buy one for your future wife. They'll even negotiate with you.

I'd shop it around town to the local jewelers/gemologists, not big retail stores. Take the appraisal with you and see what kind of offers you get. That's the safest way I think.

Maybe that was my problem. I went to the big guns in the state. I'll look for more local places now.

    Put ad in the newspaper.

In meantime--ask local jewelers what they would pay for it or how much credit they would give in their store for it.

Weigh everything. You never know--some love struck fellow may offer you more than the local jewelers.

Sounds like you don't have to sell this immediately so time is on your side.
